At the edge of a charming village within one of the largest Belgian forests, this renovated farm awaits you for family vacation. "La Ferme du Sabotier" is a spacious, comfortable 4-bedroom house --ideal for: walks in the surrounding nature reserve; trekking; biking; wildlife watching; cross country skiing; and sightseeing places of interest such as Bastogne, Saint-Hubert, La Roche, Durbuy, Han-sur-Lesse, etc. Large garden with fence. Kids most welcome! Ideal for 2 families with children. The space 10 km from Saint-Hubert and 25 km from Bastogne, this house is exceptionally located on the outskirts of a small charming village (Laneuville-au-Bois, alt. 450m) and on the outskirts of the "Forêt de Freyr", one of the largest regional forests in Belgium. The house was built as a farm in 1850 and completely renovated as a family vacation home in 1995. It is very spacious (155 m2) and surrounded by a large garden (2500 m2) with fencing, BBQ and garden tools, fruit trees, a clog maker workshop (not accessible), and an outdoor bread oven. "La Ferme du Sabotier" is a perfect environment to relax, enjoy quality time with family and friends. Activities abound: there are plenty of opportunities for hiking in a hugely diversified forest (the nearest entrance to the beautiful beech forest is 100 meters away from the house); cycling in wild areas (the house is on bike trail No.98); viewing wild animals (the forest is well filled with game and there are several accessible observatories, the nearest no more than 15 minutes on foot); cross-country skiing in winter (there is a ski rental shop in St Hubert airport, 5 km away), etc. You can also visit Saint-Hubert and its ancient cathedral (with a renowned music festival in July), La Roche-en-Ardenne and its large medieval castle (19 km away), or Bastogne, the epicenter of the 1944 Battle of the Ardennes, and its new war museum. There are some nice restaurants in the area, and a very convenient supermarket in Tenneville (3 km away), open 7 days a week, which sells delicious homemade delicacies. The house has: - 4 bedrooms, - 1 well-equipped kitchen, - 1 very large living and dining room with French doors to the terrace and garden, - 1 second living room with TV, sofa bed, and fireplace (firewood for sale at the gas station in Tenneville), - 2 bathrooms (both with toilet), - 1 separate toilet on the ground floor (so there are 3 toilets in the house), - a convenient entrance/dressing room, - and a large garage area with ping-pong table. Except for two, all bedrooms have their own sink with hot water. It's a family home, so while everything is in order, don't expect the Ritz in terms of amenities! Bedroom layout: First floor: - Bedroom 1: 1 double bed + sink (hot water) - Bedroom 2: 1 double bed. - Bedroom 3: 2 single beds + sink (hot water) - Bedroom 4: 1 single bed + 1 bunk bed + sink (hot water) Ground floor: - Sofa bed (folding bed) in the second living room. Each bed is equipped with a duvet and extra blankets for cold nights. HOWEVER, YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN DUVET COVER, BED SHEETS AND TOWELS! CHILDREN ARE WELCOME! There are 2 baby beds, 2 seats, and 3 large boxes of toys that our grandchildren like to play with (lego, playmobil, farm animals, etc.). Swing and sandbox in the garden. The house has a very large garage space with a ping pong table, where you can store your sports equipment, such as bicycles, muddy boots, etc. Guest access Entire house, garage, garden. The old clog-maker small house in the garden is not accessible whereas the ancient wood oven can be used for bread/pizza cooking.
