In front of the patio and under the shade of a mulberry tree there is a marble table and two sunbeds in order to relax and enjoy open air. The house has separate entrance and safe naturally shaded parking space, inside the property. During the winter months there is heating and hot water with independent thermostat, operating 24 houres daily. The heating is turned on, one day before our lucky guests arrive! Nikoleika beach 5 klm away, offers beach bars and reastaurants right on the water, free umbrellas, easy parking. Engali beach 3 klm away, three beach bars Tholoto, Loca, Koursaros, free umbrellas. HIKING AND WALKING TRAILS IN NATURA PROTECTED PARKS E4 Vouraikos Gorge Walking Path. You may walk next to the train tracks and enjoy at your leisure the magnificent views. It is a 3 hour walk to the first stop Zachlorou (12 klm) and 5 houres to Kalavryta (22). On the way back you can take the train. Or you can do it the other way, take the train up and walk down. Probably the most famous walk in the whole Peloponissos. Guests from all over the world come to enjoy the Gorge! Marathias Mountain Walking Trail. You start from the farm and walk up to 800 meters altitude with breathtaking views of the Korinthian Gulf. It is about 5 houres to the top. You walk through pine trees, olive trees, vineyards and smell aromatic herbs like sage and throumpi(similar to oregano). Ancient Kerynia Walking Trail. You drive to Mamousia 11 klm away 20 min ride, right before the village there is a sign Ancient Kerynia. You leave the car there and start walking following the signs. Small part of the Ancient city has been excavated but the views are magnificent and the walk on top of the mountain is rewarding. There is a mountain valley on top full with vineyards that produce high quality wine you can buy from local wineries. Great walk fantastic views! 800 meters altitude. LOCAL POINTS OF INTEREST Odontotos Rack (toothed) Train It takes you through magnificent Vouraikos Gorge. One hour train ride through waterfalls, bridges, tunnels with breathtaking views, have your cameras ready. The train takes you to the picturesque town of Kalavrita. The train was built 120 years ago by French engineers and it was a major technological achievemnt of its time! During winter time there is a ski resort area, one of the most popular in Greece. Visitors come from allover the world to experience the majestic views! Train station 2 klm from the farm! Mega Spileon Monastery(Great Cave) The oldest Monastery in Greece established 362 AD. It is dedicated to Virgin Mary and there is an Icon of Virgin Mary painted by Luke the Evangelist. Free entrance including a very interesting museum with a lot of relics. It is built in a cave. It is located 29 klm from the farm, half hour ride. A must to visit at 920 meters altitude and magnificent views! Cave Lakes, Kastria The cave is an old subteranean river consisting of three levels. During the winter when the snow melts it is transformed into a flowing river with waterfalls. During the summer, it dries up, leaving behind 13 lakes. Humans started using the cave during Neolithic Age. It was in continues use throughout the duration of the Bronze age. Remains of hippopotamus were found there! It is located 55 klm from the farm, 26 klm further up from Mega Spileon, and 16 further up from Kalavryta, a total about an hour and 10 minutes drive from the farm. The views through the forested mountains are very impressive! Planitero About 12 klm after the Cave lakes(10 min ride) you reach a Platanos tree forest that ends in the mouth of a river. Next to it is a nice taverna offering fresh trout fish, also delicious smoked one. After you visit the Cave Lakes is a nice spot for a delicious lunch in the mountains at a very reasonable price. Tsivlos Mountain Lake Magnificent views, crystal clear waters for swimming, two tavernas to enjoy delicious lunch. Altitude 800m one hour drive about 50 klm away. Plataniotissa Church in a tree. There is a unique church in the trunk of three huge ancient platanos trees(2000 yers old) dedicated to Virgin Mary. Only half hour away about 19 klm, you enjoy a magnificent ride through Kerynitis Gorge, breathtaking views of the Canyon and you arrive in a beautiful site with three tavernas next to the river for a delicious lunch under the cool shade of huge platanos trees at 780 meters altidute. Area Synest A unique park that includes a very interesting Folk Museum and a terrific restaurant. It is about 50minutes ride 36 klm away. You will see a collection of chickens from all over the world, in unique chicken houses! You will walk down to a forested river. It is open on week-ends, you have to check and make sure it is open.
