Description
Spring Cottage is tucked away in a beautiful, rural part of the Derbyshire Dales. The views are special and guests are welcome to sit in and walk around the garden. There are fabulous circular walks, from our door, varying from 30 mins - all day. We (Ali and John) work in agriculture, have a small menagerie and have many countryside interests. We will be pleased to chat with guests or to give privacy. We can collect guests from nearby stations and assist in other ways by prior arrangement. The space The old part of Spring Cottage dates from the 18th Century. In addition to the bedroom and adjacent shower room (in the old bit), guests can use our large sitting room (new bit) as their breakfast room and somewhere to relax or work on the laptop. There is a cosy log burner which we are happy to light on cooler evenings. There is a mini fridge, which will be stocked with milk, bread, water (from our own spring supply) and other DIY breakfast foods, as arranged prior to your stay. As well as hot drink and toast making facilities in this room, there is a hospitality tray in the bedroom. For warmer weather there is a sitting out area and our guests will always be welcome in the garden ; especially if you bring your gardening gloves! There is parking right outside the cottage. If staying with us in Spring there will be a few lambs to see in addition to our poultry, cats and dog. Guest access Guests will have their own (unshared) access via our front door, which leads straight into the comfortable living/breakfast room - which is for their sole use. Double doors from the living room lead to the outdoor sitting area. The only indoor space shared with us, is the hall and stairwell. The Guest bedroom and bathroom are off a separate landing. Guests can park right outside the cottage, on our drive. In addition to the outdoor sitting area for their use, Guests are welcome around the garden, which does have some steep slopes but there are handrails. During your stay We will be available most evenings and weekends to chat with guests for a while if they wish but equally we are happy to give guests their privacy if they would rather. Alison can also be available, by prior arrangement, some week days to assist guests with their holiday. Other things to note This is a rural location and at certain times of year you can hear sheep and lambs, cows, geese calling as they fly up the valley, hens cackling and foxes barking. The last part (approx 300m) of your journey to us, is up a stone track, which is subject to weather damage and can be bumpy. A low gear and caution are recommended.
