The space Recently renovated coastal cottage, in historical and hysterical 'downeast' village. This three-story, south-facing, hill-top home, nearly abuts a 155 acre cliff-side wilderness preserve, looks seaward, and at dawn is raucous with all the birdsong; 35 species in the neighborhood! Five bedrooms, 3.5 baths, three decks, mature gardens and a wooded lot is the perfect retreat for a large family -or three! This cottage was a single-story until ten years ago- when two floors were added making this essentially a new-build! Hardwood floors, marble counter tops, new appliances, super comfy mattresses, also new, and adirondack chairs outside for tipping and gossiping round out this idyllic rental. NEW Weber grills make grown men cry. There is also a large basement that contains a laundry, game room and workshop. The main home with five bedrooms has an optional guest cottage (aka Tiny House) with loft bedroom, LR/Dining area below and adjacent full bath. ($149/night extra). It has its own bath, grill and sitting area perfect for the family matriarch or newlyweds! The town of Castine, pop 1,200, is renowned for it's 400 year maritime heritage, including one of the nation's best Maritime Academys. Castine also boasts Inns, pubs, wine/ jazz bars, bakeries, yacht clubs and a nine-hole golf course. And after sinning all week one can on escape into one of the six churches for redemption on Sunday. Sea-kayaking, sailing, long forest strolls, short bike rides, sunsets at nearby lighthouse, and simply fresh seafood whether prepared at home or at one of the the three great restaurants within walking distance make this vacation rental outstanding. ** Please note during HIGH season: June15-Sept 01 all rentals are min seven-night weekly. Sunday to Sunday. Arrival/ departure days /times are always 4:00pm arrival/ 09:00am departure** Occasionally I can make minor exceptions. Guest access Entire property, excluding recently built ‘tiny house’, adjacent but not connected, available separately at $149.00/night. However, property also includes daylight basement/ game room for rainy days complete with Ping Pong table and Dart board! Other things to note Separate and apart from the main house, is an adorable ‘Tiny House’-sleeps 4, with its own private bathroom, mini-kitchen and windows facing eastward out of sight from main house. Great for ‘honeymooners’, seniors, or mature teenagers. Loft bedroom and conv couch allow two adults and two kids to enjoy a diminutive respite in a lovely garden setting.
