HONEYSPOT COTTAGE is a light and airy detached dwelling, full of charm and oozing character, being over 200 years old. It has been sympathetically restored , is pet free, and is ideally situated for walking and touring the beautiful countryside of the Peak Park. The space Honeyspot Cottage is a light and airy detached dwelling situated right in the heart of the village. It is full of charm and oozing character, being over 200 years old, and consists of: Cosy sitting room, exposed beams with wood burning stove - Free WiFi (super fast : 50 Mbps) - TV (Freesat), DVD, radio - Guide books and board games - Views over the village and open countryside. Fully fitted and equipped kitchen with : - electric hob - oven - fridge - microwave Double bedroom with fitted cupboards Bathroom with shower Separate walled Cottage Garden with table and chairs. Parking space Storage for bikes available by prior arrangement. We are unable to accept bookings for pets. Winster is a very attractive historic village, with many lovely old buildings. It is well known for its Morris Dancers, Pancake Races, Winster Wakes and Secret Gardens. Local amenities include two traditional village pubs which both serve food; a community-owned village shop and post office which stocks a wide range of fresh produce, including bread, milk, fruit, veg, newspapers and wine (all of which can be ordered for your visit); a local bus service to Bakewell and Matlock (links to trains); a medical centre; a very helpful car repair garage (no petrol); and last but not least - the National Trust's first property in Derbyshire - The Winster Market House, admission is free to this quaint old building which contains a model of the village, information about the history of Winster and a display about our Italian twin village of Monterubbiano. No visit to Winster would be complete without a trip to nearby Chatsworth House. So much to do and see there, something for everyone. The Tudor gem, Haddon Hall is also a short drive from us. The nearest National Trust properties are Hardwick Hall and Keddleston Hall. Nearby Carsington Water is a popular place to walk, shop, relax, eat, bird-watch or take part in a range of water sports. The towns of Bakewell, Matlock, Matlock Bath, Chesterfield, Buxton, Wirksworth and Ashbourne are all within easy reach and contain many interesting tourist attractions. There are also lots of lovely old villages to discover nearby, many within walking distance, each with its own unique character. With a variety of beautiful walks right from the doorstep, there is no need to take the car out, if you don't want to. We are also close to the many wonderful (traffic-free) cycle paths which can be found in the Peak District, where you can hire bikes. Access to the nearest cycle path, the High Peak Trail, is approx. 2 miles away. Indoor swimming pool and gym facilities are available at the new Arc Matlock Leisure Centre (approx 5 miles). If you would like to stay in an interesting, quiet and relaxing village, with lots to see and do nearby, then we would love to welcome you to Honeyspot Cottage.
