Description
Quiet and peaceful Irish cottage in the heart of Connemara! Experience the Irish countryside while staying in a cozy rustic home complete with lake views and an authentic open turf fire. Equipped with wifi and a smart TV. Perfect getaway for couples, small groups or families (crib and highchair available). Well behaved pets are welcome but please inform us ahead of time. The space The home has been in the family for over 200 years and still holds a lot of its old Irish charm. Complete with beautiful lake and mountain views and just over a mile from a couple local beaches. We suggest to all guests to bring good walking shoes or wellies to really explore the area and check out the local "wildlife" (there is plenty!! horses, sheep, donkeys, cows and more). Guest access Guests have access to the entire cottage. Other things to note Please note: ** The cottage is one of the oldest homes in the area and has many original features which adds to its authentic charm but with that comes the understanding that it will never be as “pristine” as a newer modern home. Our caretakers work hard to keep the home up to standard and make sure guests are comfortable but there are many quirks that come with staying in a home that is over 200 years old. Thank you for your understanding!** **The upstairs bedrooms are more of a loft conversion. Bedroom #1 is open to the stairwell and bedroom #2 is accessed by walking through bedroom #1. We usually put the younger kids in bedroom #2 as it is the quietest and most private (crib is located in this bedroom)** **The common room (dining area/living room) still has the original flooring which is concrete so we suggest to guests to bring comfortable house shoes or slippers!** **We have a washer and dryer available for guests who have booked 1 week + (otherwise the laundry shed is locked)** **Pets are more than welcome as long as they are well behaved, house trained and stay off the furniture. Please inform us if you choose to bring a pet, there is a 30 euro fee per stay** **Our cleaning fee helps provide an additional income and livelihood to a couple local women. Along with cleaning they also provide any assistance and can answer any questions about the cottage during your stay. We live remotely so this fee is essential in running the cottage!** **We have updated our electricity and installed central heat in the home which is run by a "pay as you go" meter which the guests will be responsible for their own heat/electricity **
