Historic Rowhome by JHMI (Room 1)
Come stay in our lovely Baltimore row house that's mere steps from the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute and less than 10 minutes from Fells Point and downtown. Whether you're a visiting student or scholar, or simply exploring, we're happy to host you! We are in a historic row home on a beautiful cobblestone street in Old Town several short blocks from the Johns Hopkins Medical Institute, downtown Baltimore, and Fells Point. We love fresh food and the outdoors, and we have a walled-in patio with an herb garden and hammock. The house has six (decorative) fireplaces (one in your room!), hardwood floors and tile throughout, and beautiful exposed brick where the two original rowhomes came together. This is a single bedroom on the second floor of our home. Guests will have shared access to our full kitchen, living room and TV, both bathrooms, the reading nook, and backyard patio, as well as the washer and dryer. Two other rooms are also rented through Airbnb, so feel free to say hello to other guests! We live here! The amount of interaction that we have is entirely up to you. We're happy to share our knowledge of the city, great hikes, yummy food, or leave you to peace and quiet - your choice! Old Town was the first Vacants-to-Value program in the region in the 1970s, and is lovely, with the cobblestone street and a well-maintained small park-like area on the west end. The street maintains historic standards in the public face of each home as a registered historic area, and many homes (including this one!) are over 150 years old. If you're here on a Sunday between April and October, feel free to join us on a walk to the nearby public market! We are a short walk (about 5 minutes) from the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus, so if you're a visiting student or scholar you'll have an easy commute. Generally, uber is your best bet to anywhere nearby - it's well-priced at $4-6 to most areas! Public Transportation: We're steps from a bus stop that can take you to Downtown, Inner Harbor, or Fells Point. We're less than a 10 minute drive from Penn Station as well, so you can easily take the trains throughout the metro area. The more limited Baltimore Metro runs from stations at the Medical Campus as well. Parking is available and not regulated on our street and the nearby streets. We have two cats (Gatsby and Daisy) and a dog (Amia). All are quite friendly and will do their best to endear themselves! We're also an entirely vegan household, and would gladly trade recipes!
