Description
Unique stone Sussex cottage (attached to one other cottage) called Dean Barn in the National Park on the South Downs Way. The cottage is idyllic for friends, romantic break-away, walkers, family gatherings and is dog friendly. Beautiful original features with beams, log burner, Rayburn, open plan kitchen/living space with comfy sofas and dining table, 3 dbl. bedrooms and bathroom. Surrounded by gardens with a terrace perfect for morning coffee. A very special home for short and longer breaks. The space This cottage is very unique and you will see why: The cottage (attached to one other cottage) is spacious and cosy and presented on several levels. The ground floor is an open plan living and kitchen area with under floor heating, a beautiful Rayburn and wood burner with logs provided. The kitchen/dining area is of a bohemian style, being unfitted but well equipped with a large new fridge/freezer, an old pine table and chairs for 6, open shelving with crockery and eating utensils. The living space is gloriously decorated with large comfy sofas to sink into, floor to ceiling shelves packed with books, carefully selected pieces of original art lining the walls and all combined with poofs scattered for your comfort, adding to the country cosy feel – perfect for curling up in front of the log burner with a book after a long country walk on the South Downs Way! Adjoining the entrance hall is the annex studio where Naomi paints, and Richard works when in the UK. The studio is not currently open to guests but it is possible to view some of the wonderful art which is produced there decorating the walls in the cottage and do check out Naomi Sheed’s Website. The paintings in the cottage are replaced every 6 months and are for sale. The tasteful bathroom is also situated on the ground floor, with a large double ended bath and overhead shower and a spacious basin area. Up the stairs are three quaint cottage style double bedrooms with views over the surrounding countryside. All bedrooms have original wooden floors, hanging hooks on the back of doors and ample folding space in chest of drawers. The door to the kitchen opens directly onto the garden terrace with an outside table and chairs, perfect for a coffee break or an early evening drink as you watch the colours of the setting sun against the Downs. Outside you will also find a covered porch with space for muddy boots. There is a pretty pond, so keep an eye on water loving dogs, please also be aware that the garden is not fully enclosed. At the rear is a vegetable/herb garden which then backs onto the Queen Elizabeth National Park. There are spectacular views and endless walks surrounding the cottage. The tarmac road coming up to the house turns into the South Downs way track right after the house, making this spot the perfect starting point for exploring the downs and beyond! The cottage has parking for 2 cars. The cottage provides free wifi, towels and white bed linen. The cottage is a blissful escape and yet just over an hour from London. Its located right on the South Downs Way, is easily accessed by direct rail to Petersfield which is on the Waterloo to Portsmouth line or straight off the A3 which links with the M25 and beyond. This cottage is truly delightful and will make any break or escape a memorable occasion. Groups of 6 work well in the cottage if you are happy to share 1 bathroom. Guest access Guests have full access to the entire cottage and garden. The studio and garage are for private use by Richard and Naomi only. Dogs are welcome but please no dogs on the furniture or the beds. Other things to note Please be aware the cottage has 1 bathroom. There is adequate room for 6 people to stay as long as you are happy to share the bathroom facilities. For a smooth check in it is great if we know in advance your expected time of arrival when you book.
