Description

Crabpot cottage is 60-seconds from Wells harbour in the heart of the town. It is a snug, self-contained 200-years old 'fisherman's cottage' built on the foundations of a much older building. It offers cosy living space, gardens and parking. Wood burner, central heating, modern kitchen, washing machine and WiFi make it ideal for short breaks. It works really well for couples or small families who love a character cottage. It is not suitable for groups larger than 4 or anyone expecting a hotel! The space Crabpot cottage is set up as a holiday home for a maximum of four people. It works particularly well for couples or small family groups. It has been modernised sympathetically but, at its heart, is an 18th century Norfolk cottage. We have always had a great housekeeper at Crabpot and follow the guidance provided by the five-step cleaning process devised by Airbnb's experts. Being on the Norfolk coast means the cottage also gets a very good 'blow-through' between guests! We provide a range of cleaning and sanitizing products in line with Airbnb's five-step cleaning process. Crabpot is an old property. It comprises of a recently modernised kitchen (oven, microwave, induction hob, fridge, breakfast bar table and chairs, washing machine and dish washer). This opens onto the secure back garden, sitting out area and parking space (available only to guests at Crabpot). Beyond the kitchen is a cosy lounge - with sweet little woodburner (and a supply of logs to get you started). In addition to the woodburner, the cottage is fully central heated. The pricing policy is based upon the fare usage of electricity. This means we want guests to be comfortable but not to leave the heating on full-blast when out or leave windows open, etc. The front door leads to the small front garden and thence down to Wells Quay. Upstairs, at the top of the steep Norfolk stairs, are the two double bedrooms (one with two single beds and one with a double bed) and a recently modernised compact bathroom with shower. Bedding and towels are provided. The bedrooms - like the rest of the cottage - are not large but do have storage space (wardrobe, chest of draws) suitable for a short-break. Please see the images. Given the age of Crabpot, it must be remembered that 200-years ago people were shorter... Therefore, while there is good ceiling height throughout, the door frames are LOW! Crabpot is set up as a traditional self-catering cottage for holiday use only; and the photos and reviews give a good impression of the space and what it's like. It works especially well for active families or couples who want to enjoy the delights of a Norfolk coastal/rural small town and working fishing port. It is not suitable for party groups and we do not allow pets. The link to the host guidebook for visitors to Crabpot (giving a range of facilities and attractions) can be found below and is worth a look. Guest access The listing is for the entire cottage, front garden, rear garden and off-road parking (located at the end of the rear garden within the old wooden gates - shown in the images). The gates fold inward to open and must be secured shut. Other things to note Crabpot is an old cottage and, whilst modernised sympathetically, it does need to be treated with care and consideration because of its age and period features (e.g., sash windows, Norfolk stairs, etc). The cottage is not suitable for unsupervised children. The cottage is old - and this (and all that goes with a property built more than two-hundred years ago) is part of its charm. If you don't want a character property (or do want a hotel or a new property) this is not the cottage to pick! The description (above) and guest reviews give a fair indication of what Crabpot has to offer. We love it and hope you will!
