LAWRENNY is a quaint little cottage that can accommodate a total of 2 guests. This cottage is the smallest of all the units at Blue Crane Farm, Trout and Wildlife Estate, and has a beautiful view over the phenomenal 9-hectare dam. Lawrenny has 1 bedroom - queen bed equipped with an electric blanket, bathroom with a shower, open-plan kitchen / dining / living room area with a smart TV and indoor fireplace. The covered patio has a built-in braai and outside dining area. Our larger dam is an impressive 9 hectares in size and has several jetties to make your fly-fishing experience an even more enjoyable one. This charming venue offers natural scenery with free roaming game species such as fallow deer, springbok, blesbok, zebra, hartebeest, and vaal rhebok. The birdlife is remarkable with several endangered species such as the Blue Crane and Crowned Cranes that can be spotted on a regular basis. The accommodation on the farm consists of 8 well-appointed self-catering units, ranging from the smaller 2 sleeper cottage to our larger 8 sleeper houses. In total the farm can accommodate 44 guests, which makes Blue Crane Farm the ideal venue for small or larger group bookings. The units offer privacy, although are easily accessible to walk from one to the other, should you have family or friends in a neighboring unit. All units face the waterfront, offering amazing views of the surrounding grasslands. Guest access The farm boasts two beautiful dams where guests can enjoy fly fishing. Our larger dam is an impressive 9 hectares in size and has several jetties to make your fly-fishing experience an even more enjoyable one. Both dams are stocked with rainbow and brown trout. Bird watching is also a very popular activity on the farm due to the big variety of land and water bird species that can be seen. Endangered bird species such as the Crowned Crane and Blue Crane can also be spotted on a regular basis. We have a Blue Crane breeding pair that nests on one of the islands in the big dam once a year. The venue offers beautiful scenery with free roaming game species such as fallow deer, springbuck, blesbuck, zebra, hartebeest and vaal rhebuck. We offer all our guest the opportunity to enjoy nature by hiking on the farm. The farm border is approximately 6km if a circular route is taken. There are a number of interlinked farm roads over the hill that is lovely for hiking, cycling or jogging. Taking a stroll around the big dam will be close to 1.5km-2km. The difficulty would be easy, all walks are on well-kept paths with no climbing involved. Other things to note Please note that Blue Crane Farm is a fly fishing only venue. Catch and release. Bass rods and equipment are strictly prohibited. We rely on the honesty of our guests. Should you wish to keep fish caught, the cost is R100 per fish. Wood is sold at R30 a bag.
