Situated in one of the prettiest villages in the North York Moors National Park, this comfortable, cosy 250-year old cottage has open beams & a wood-burner, Wifi & SmartTV, and is beautifully furnished, with comfy beds c/w feather duvets& pillows. Great for walkers, cyclists & people wishing to enjoy the delights of the North Yorkshire hills which are on the doorstep. An excellent cafe(open Thurs- Mon), 3 pubs & a well-stocked village shop nearby add to the joys of staying in this lovely village The space This old (250+ years) cottage is well placed not only for close access to the village but also for taking lovely walks right from the front door. Even though Osmotherley is beautifully placed for accessing the hills and moors of North Yorkshire, with fabulous scenery whether you’re walking or driving. York, Helmsley and Whitby are all less than an hour’s drive, and even though you’re in the heart of a gorgeous country village it is also very conveniently situated just a short drive from the A19 which connects to the A1. The place is cosy with beams and a log burner, but has been upgraded so its comfortable for all tastes with crisp white cotton bed linens, feather duvet & pillows, cosy throws and lamps to make it snug and comfy. There are plenty of towels so you can relax after a day's walking or exploring, in a long hot bath with the herbal salts or relaxing bath foam we include. Hot water is on a combiner's-boiler so it won't run out! The house is nice and warm, with a Hive control so you can turn the heating up if it turns chilly. Additional bedding/pillows/blankets are stored in the wooden box & ottoman in main bedroom . Travel cot & high chair live under the stairs - though the cottage isn't guaranteed child-proof! We provide some fuel for the stove, (more can be purchased through The Village Store, or contact owner to arrange). We have some things in the cottage to make the stay more convenient... clothes airer, iron & board, hairdryer, bathroom products, cleaning products & washing up liquid... as well as providing Yorkshire tea, Italian coffee (for our easy-to-use espresso machine), salt, pepper, sugar &vinegar for fish &chips from the excellent F&C shop. There is a lockable shed space in the back yard to secure bikes if guests are bringing bikes. Whilst the cottage doesn’t have a garden, it’s got green spaces very close by as well as many beautiful walks right on the doorstep. There's a well stocked village shop that has fresh baked bread & newspapers, a great cafe serving home cooked food ,and the 3 pubs between them cater for all tastes. Guest access Guests will have the whole cottage plus use of shed space for bikes. The back yard is shared with the cottage next door but guests can use it to access shed and also cut through to another area of the village via a pretty snicket .The keys are in a keysafe at the front door, and the number code for this will be given a few days before guests arrive. Other things to note Parking is free all round the village though not guaranteed right outside. To keep the base price down for just a couple using one bedroom, we request an additional £15 if a booking for 2 guests uses a second bed. (For additional booked guests see booking charges). This can be left at the cottage for collection in cash, or we can provide bank details to transfer... The stove is easy to use - see guest info sheet for details- but if guests purchase extra logs from anywhere other than the host they must be guaranteed well seasoned or kiln dried. Hot water is on a combi boiler so always available.
