Description

A two-level apartment in the historical center of Taganrog, in the mansion of V. Tretyakov. Anton Chekhov spent his childhood in this house on the second floor, Mikhail Chekhov, a famous writer and theater critic, was born here. The apartment has a separate bedroom on the second level, a dining area, a kitchen and a living room. A total of 5 beds. All amenities, TV with satellite channels, free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, fridge, microwave, washing machine. Fresh designer renovation. The space What is this house famous for? The mansion of merchant V. Tretyakov was built in the middle of the nineteenth century in the style of provincial classicism. This house is classified as a "Chekhov place" because A.P. Chekhov's father and his family rented an apartment on the top floor from 1865 to 1869. The children of Nikolai and Anton spent years studying here at the Greek school. Anton Pavlovich's younger brother, Mikhail Chekhov, a famous writer and theater critic, was born in this house. The first floor of the building was given to shops, one of which housed Pavel Egorovich's grocery store – Anton Chekhov's father. Next to it was the hairdresser I.A. Zlov, who was famous for going to Paris and bringing from there a whole warehouse of kerosene lamps, which he sold right there in the hairdresser's. To attract customers in the evenings, he lit all the lamps in the hairdresser's window and arranged illumination in this way. On the second floor there was a casino, the Hotel of Nord, and later the Olympia hotel and restaurant, in the 80s of the 19th century there was the Musical and Dramatic Society, in the 13-14 years of the 20th century — the Pallas cinema. "The upper floor of the Tretyakov house was decorated as a casino quite elegantly and with some pretensions. The floors in the halls were painted by masters "under parquet" with images of human figures. It was a great rarity and attracted many curious people who flocked to look at this work. Anton Chekhov also came in more than once as a neighbor, and then told at school about the curiosities he saw. When the house was ready, the top floor was rented for a casino by some Frenchman, Monsieur Trill, whose kitchen was located right there, in the courtyard, just under P.E. Chekhov's apartment. ... I don't remember when it was, before the casino or after the casino, but only this floor was honored to have a high-ranking tenant within its walls. When Rear Admiral I.A. Shestakov was appointed mayor of Taganrog, for some reason the city prepared a luxurious room for him here. Curious people also flocked to look at the decor. I don't remember how long the mayor lived here, but the children of P.E. Chekhov and I.A. Zlov, who were running around the courtyard, saw the mayor and his wife talking peacefully at the window overlooking the courtyard more than once, while trying to behave exaggeratedly well and politely. But one day they could not stand it, got carried away, Grisha Zlov offended Anton Chekhov with something, and he ran with a loud roar to complain to his parents about the offender. Subsequently, on the same floor of the Tretyakov House there was a hotel, it seems, "London". In the evenings, a ladies' orchestra played there. This orchestra attracted mainly sailors-"captains" of all kinds of nations. It was very noisy, but all this fun did not last long. The ladies' orchestra was soon abolished" (From the book by Alexander Pavlovich Chekhov "Notes of a Random Tourist").
