Please note that we are located quite far from town and the usual modern conveniences. Occasionally, our national electricity supplier, Eskom, experiences outages that can last for 6 hours or longer, especially during thunderstorms, heavy winds, or rain. Additionally, we experience "load shedding," where electricity is temporarily cut for 2-hour intervals, and this can occur daily. We do have a back up battery system that will run the cabin except the air conditioner and geyser. Please refrain from using the heating elements (kettle, oven, microwave etc) there is a gas stove to help. Weather: We are in a summer rainfall area, typically experiencing no more than two days of rain at a time, often in the form of afternoon thunderstorms. The hottest months are January, February, and March, with temperatures reaching the 30s and 40s°C. Winter is mild, with no frost. Days are warm, typically in the 20s°C, but nights can get chilly. We receive very little rain in winter. July, August, and September are the coolest months, making this a great time for game viewing and walking. The windiest months are September and October. Due to our proximity to the lake, the winds can sometimes be quite strong. There is loads to explore around our area, whether its birding, hiking, biking, game viewing, adventuring, finding little hidden gems or just relaxing. Please do not hesitate to ask me for any ideas on what you would like to do, Im more than happy to help.
