Description
Pry is a cosy 18th-century, cottage farmhouse within five acres of wild flowers, a verdant copse and running burn. Near Hadrian’s Wall and medieval Blanchland, Pry lies just south of Hexham and Corbridge, making it the perfect base for exploring Northumberland and beyond. Help is on hand with Steve and Cocker Spaniel Kes. There’s homemade organic breads, rare-breed (even Roman!) eggs and advice on walking, cycling, or casting a fly for salmon and wild trout. The space Pry offers two very comfortable double bedrooms and access to the Book Room to chill out and relax. The bedroom facing Slaley has a king-size bed with views and a glow of natural sunlight particularly in the late afternoon, early evening. The adjoining bathroom has a walk-in Eco-smart shower with a large raindrop head and heated towel rail. The other bedroom captures the early light and provides a double bed with a wonderful view of the garden. This bedroom is only available if you are one party. Pry provides locally sourced breakfast from the village and surrounding area and is committed to providing Fairtrade products like tea and coffee. The menu varies daily according to availability and preference. A picnic can be made up for £10 a person. During your stay Steve is an experienced host and prides himself on putting guests first. He's accommodating, flexible and friendly and has travelled extensively. A fly fisherman, who also offers lessons for beginners, he's on hand for advice on where to visit or eat, or even where to cycle or fish. Pry aims to make you feel at home while valuing your own space and privacy. Other things to note The Rose & Crown pub is two-fields away and offers good, locally sourced beer and food. The menu changes on a daily basis and guests are very complementary about the quality of food and service and the welcoming atmosphere. The pub is community owned. The community-owned shop is also close by with a good range of local dairy products and an exceptional wine collection chosen by the vicar who is also a wine buff!
