Retro Tiny Cabin in the Trees
Glamping in Harpers Ferry! Elevated 8' x 16' cabin in a lush garden property surrounded by trees. Full bathroom w/rain showerhead. King bed can be converted to 2 twins if requested. 1940s vintage decor. Minifridge, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, elec kettle, minigriddle. NO STOVE. Opens to an 8' x 16' screened porch w/ceiling fan, comfy seating, kitchen table & sink. Private spot yet in walking distance to many HF activities & dinner restaurants. Indoor/outdoor living & in-town convenience. The space Located in the Harpers Ferry residential Historic District, the tiny cabin is inspired by 1940s Park Service cabins but with modern comforts and amenities, a rainfall showerhead, an Allswell mattress, full insulation with air conditioning (and heating for the cooler months). The tiny cabin is built on the same property as our B&B (note our other listings on Airbnb). A garage sits between the tiny cabin and the main house on one side. There are trees/gardens on the other three sides. Beyond the trees are other neighborhood homes and a narrow, usually quiet street on one side. The cabin includes Wifi and an Echo Dot. A small TV monitor is available with an HDMI cable if you want to hook up your own streaming device. Note that, it being a tiny cabin, we had room for only a 40-gallon water heater. If there are two of you staying, you may want to take quicker showers or allow a little time between showers so that the second person gets enough hot water. We permit a third guest, including children, but please remember that this is a tiny cabin, and the sleeping configuration is one king or two twins. There is also a cot and sleeping bag on the screened porch that could be used on warmer nights. Please review all the photos. Together, they portray the entire tiny cabin and screened porch (no fisheye lens used). The cabin is not larger than pictured. Parking spaces are located in front of the main house. You will then need to walk around the house to the back of the property to access the tiny cabin. A barndoor style gate just next to the tiny cabin exits to a side street. It's convenient for access when walking or bicycling, but no parking is available near this gate. Guest access The tiny cabin sits on the property of Rockhaven B&B, a historic home originally owned by Storer College professor William A. Saunders and his wife Inez. (B&B suites are also available on Airbnb by these hosts.) You will have full access to the lush gardens on the property and outdoor seating around the property. Other things to note Check in time on Sundays may be delayed to 4 pm. Remember that half of the living space is a screened-in porch. It is secure, being elevated 10+ feet off the ground and has a view of our lovely gardens. Unlike the cabin interior, however, the screens do allow some pollen and dust to enter -- and sometimes even tiny insects. Be aware that you are booking an indoor/outdoor glamping accommodation. We clean the porch between guests, but you may encounter dust/pollen and occasional cobwebs outside. The cabin is located in a neighborhood. There may randomly be tree cutting, repair crews, construction, or other noise from neighboring properties that we have no control over. This cabin is set up for minimal food preparation and not for cooking meals. There is no stove. We cannot guarantee sufficient amperage to the cabin's electric outlets to run any portable appliances you bring from home. We do not have a convenient set-up for recharging electric bicycles. An Echo Dot smart device is located on top of the microwave. To deactivate it, simply pull out the AC cord. During the winter months, once temperatures regularly drop below freezing, we have to turn off the water out on the screened porch. You'll still have access to water in the bathroom sink and shower indoors.
