In the rural village of Sheriff Hutton, located just 20 minutes north of York and less than 1 hr from beach. Free parking. Your shepherd's hut is set in the enclosed, inner courtyard of the C14th castle ruins, your own private space. Atmospheric and perfect for relaxing, enjoying a quiet drink in the evening in front of the fire pit & gazing at a starry sky or the impressive ruins. We have 3 other stays, for couples, around the castle available if you would like to visit with friends. No WiFi. The space Your cosy dog friendly Shepherd's Hut includes; double bed, kitchen area with utensils, double halogen hob, butler sink and fridge, there is also a small shower room complete with toilet. Exclusive use of courtyard, (approx 173ft x 216ft) outdoor table and chair, fire pit provided with grill. You are welcome to bring your own firewood but we also have bags to purchase on site and disposable BBQ sets. Safe bike storage available. Other things to note There are many walks in the surrounding area including a 15 min circular walk around the castle and moats a pub serving food within 5 minutes walk (not on Sunday evening, Mon and Tues) . Bring walking boots or wellies, even when it hasn't rained for a while it can be muddy! York 20 minutes drive and Castle Howard is a 10 minutes away, we are on the edge of the Howardian Hills an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, perfect for cycling to take in the fantastic views.
