The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse is privately positioned alongside a Security Estate, offering low key, rustic accomodation that quietly reconnects you to nature. Restore one's capacity to appreciate the simple things in life, such as the sound of rain on a rustic exposed tin roof and singing birds. If the wind blows in a certain direction, you may hear distant traffic. Expect to encounter duiker, rabbits, possibly bats. Guests love the peaceful mood under the canopy of trees, the big fireplace and the comfy beds. The space Privately positioned under tall trees, 5km from central Howick on the R103, the Farmhouse has been converted from a very basic functional farm building into comfortable accomodation designed to appeal to those who appreciate the simple life and nature's treasures . Horses graze peacefully in the fields next door. There is a chicken farm in close proximity. You can enjoy a sunset walk in a field filled with rare species of plants only found in the indigenous grasslands of SA. And when you feel like exploring the Midlands Meander, its all within easy reach. Guest access The entire fenced cottage is for your private use. Your property has access to the veggie garden, which you are welcome to enjoy. You will usually find an abundance of greens such as origanum, fennel, mint, parsley, borage, chillies and spinach. The main house is accessed over the cattle grid near to the red tractor. There are spacious garden spaces to explore and you may use the pool . Other things to note The exposed corrugated roof has an authentic, rustic appeal. Some guests might not like the noise of rain falling down from the heavens without an insulated ceiling. I grew up on a farm and I love the sound of rain on a tin roof!
