Larriston Coach House, for a very rural stay

Larriston Coach House is a large four-bedroomed cottage, part of a very rural 19th century farm steading on 28 acres, with 2,500 acres of hillside starting at the doorstep. It's right on the Scottish Border, close to Kielder and Newcastleton (both five miles away), and ideal for visiting Kielder observatory, Kielder Forest, the Borders or north Northumberland. There’s plenty of space, inside and out. The skies are dark, the mobile reception is zero and the silence is deafening. The space Larriston Coach House is a large, recently-refurbished cottage perfectly suited to host up to eight people in total rural comfort. The entrance is via the courtyard and large boot room. Bedrooms one and two are on the ground floor, sharing a bathroom. They are both bright and sunny looking over the garden. Rooms three and four are upstairs, both sharing another bathroom. There’s a large lounge and dining area with a log-burning stove, as well as a fully-equipped kitchen. Outside, there’s a private, secluded, and very sunny, walled courtyard with views over open country. There’s a patio, outdoor table and chairs, as well as a spacious undercover paved area with more seating. There’s a barbecue and a fire pit. The courtyard has access to the garden Dogs are welcome, a maximum of two per booking. But they mustn’t go upstairs or on the furniture. There is livestock here (sheep, chickens and horses) The Coach House is part of a 28 acre property, including a section of the river Liddel Water. There is swimming in the river and plenty of long walks up in the hills. 2,500 acres of open countryside start right at the gate, including woodland, streams and waterfalls. Meg, the Border Collie, will show you the way! Kielder Forest (and England) start at the top of the hill. Horses graze in the field, often joined by Mr Whitey the cat and Meg the collie. There’s abundant wildlife - the chances are you’ll see a badger or fox, and If you don’t see the barn owl who lives in the stable you’ll no doubt hear him and the many other owls that live round about. And whilst we can’t guarantee clear cloudless nights, when the skies are clear, the stars are incredible – it’s no accident that they put an observatory just over the hill. Newcastleton is a short drive away and has pubs and restaurants, as well as shops and a petrol station, with other eateries available along Kielder Water. There is plenty of space to store bicycles, and even to wash muddy ones Guest access The whole house is yours while you stay! And there is plenty of garden to walk round.
