Rafter J Hideaway: Durango Mountain Getaway

The 'Rafter J Hideaway' is a quiet mountain getaway, situated on 4 acres, overlooking the most incredible views of the La Plata mountain range. This rustic A-frame cabin has been newly renovated, with upgrades throughout. Just 5 miles to downtown Durango, and a short drive to Lake Nighthorse. Whether you want to escape and relax for a few days or have a beautiful place to explore, this place is for you! The space Main level of the home includes the kitchen, dining area, bedroom and full bath. The loft area includes a bedroom, half bath and workspace. Guest access The home is fully accessible. Guests do not have access to the detached garage. Other things to note NEW Starlink broadband internet service. Work remotely with a view! In the summer we have an evaporative cooler on the main level of the home. For the colder months, we have a propane furnace located on the main level and baseboard heating in the downstairs bedroom. We recommend utilizing the wood-burning fireplace for heat throughout the entire home. We provide more than enough firewood for the length of your stay. Please be prepared for winter driving in the mountains to access the property. AWD or 4WD is MANDATORY from November through April in snowy conditions. Due to the heavy snowfall in the winter months, patio furniture will be removed from the deck for snow removal. Please be advised that patio furniture is only available during the summer season (May-September). To access the loft area you must be able to manage a spiral staircase. If you have children, please be extra careful around the staircase openings. For this reason, our home may not be the right fit for families traveling with small children. Please keep in mind that this is an A-frame style cabin, and some features reflect this, including the structural beams located in the loft area and the low roofline on the exterior.
