The Getaway

This 1950 3 bedroom 2 bath island house was remodeled with a Mid Century vibe. Some of the original features have been kept for authenticity. "The Getaway" feels like you are stepping back in time. It is a wonderful place to ride bikes and you can walk across the street to launch our 2 kayaks. I love our floor plan and the fact that each of the three bedrooms are large enough for a private retreat while the open kitchen/living area is so comfortable for the whole group to be together. The space Dauphin Island is 17 miles long and 1.5 miles wide so you can go to beaches, and enjoy water and fishing all around! It is the home of Fort Gaines established in 1821 which has a museum and tours. The Alabama Aquarium, with hands on exhibits, and Audubon Bird Sanctuary are there too. I think the Perdido Queen Murder Mystery Comedy Dinner Cruise out of Mobile is a lot of fun as well! Guest access We have a storage building under the carport that has 4 bikes, life jackets and beach toys and chairs. Other things to note The trash man comes twice a week, on Wednesday and Saturday. Please put it out the night before because he's been known to come quite early.
