Description
This charming self-contained cottage is a unit of the fabulous Steynshoop Valley Lodge, which is full of character and a favourite with guests. Separate self-catering unit with gallery-style bedroom on an open mezzanine level with a queen size four poster double bed. Bathroom with bath and shower and enclosed courtyard with outside shower. There is a double sleeper/couch, suitable for occasional use by children, as well as a cot. Small adjoining walled garden with table, chairs and Weber. Other things to note Swimming There is a magnificent 22m rim-flow pool and sun loungers on the pool terrace with its spectacular views. Tennis, Volleyball, Badminton Guests have access to a nearby all-weather, floodlit tennis court, volleyball and badminton facilities on the adjoining Steynshoop Valley Lodge, which is under common ownership with Steynshoop Mountain Lodge. Croquet There is a fully laid-out croquet lawn and croquet implements are available on request. Boule This may be played in the boma, which has a sand floor. A boule set is available on request. Billiards/Snooker There is a full-size billiard table at the adjoining Steynshoop Valley Lodge, and arrangements can be made for its use. Archery The lodge is equipped with bows and arrows and a target range, for use by guests. Walking & Hiking There are a variety of walks on the estate from 2-4 hours, including magnificent mountain hikes and walks through indigenous bush and forest including thousands of natural protea trees. By prior arrangement longer hikes with a guide provided by the Lodge may be made over the extensive adjoining properties owned by the Mountain Club of South Africa, which includes famous sites such as the Castle Gorge. Wildlife The property has extensive natural game including bushbuck, nyala, mountain reedbuck, baboons, monkeys, kudu, warthog and leopard. Bird Watching At Steynshoop Mountain Lodge there is prolific bird life - for example there are frequent sightings of Cape Vultures, of which there is a cliff-side nesting colony less than five kilometres from the lodge, and Black Eagles, with a nesting pair near the lodge
