Our country home in the Garden of Ireland feels like the perfect retreat. Sit in the garden or go for walks in the woods. Quick & easy access to Dublin, the Wicklow mountains & the sea. The space Our house is in the very centre of Newtownmountkennedy, a small village nestled in between the Irish sea and the Wicklow mountains. With quick and easy access to Dublin via the N11 and frequent fast buses, Newtownmountkennedy is the perfect distance to travel in and out of Dublin. We are 5 minutes drive to the sea and 10 minutes drive west to the Wicklow mountains. It is a great area for cycling and walking. Accommodation A small self-contained studio space, which is part of our 300 year old house. The access is from the back of the house, with own front door. You will have a small living room with a small kitchen for self -catering where you can make your own breakfast and meals. We live in the downstairs, and part of the upstairs; our kitchen is below the flat, so you may hear us ! There is a very small private bathroom that has a shower, wash hand basin and loo. This is separate to the bedroom. Our house is an old house, parts of it that are about 300 years old so, yes, some of it is a bit wonky and there are a few cracks in the walls! It adds to the character of the house! The space is not the ultra modern look that so many places have now...but the space we provide has lots of character and charm! We have no T.V so if you have a laptop I would encourage you to bring it if you want to watch some films! We provide clean, fresh sheets and towels. There is access to a PC wireless internet, fax and printer. There is a garden you can use. We have a warm wooden-floored multi-use space that you can use for yoga or other exercises in the afternoons and at weekends. I live here with my husband. We have 5 children who live away from home but who visit. We have a lovely, gentle dog and a cat. My husband is a retired GP and I work as an Airbnb host and also as a volunteer in Vincent de Paul shop. Local Services The house is close to Dunnes supermarket and a pharmacy . There is a hotel across the road from the house which has a restaurant and also good bar food. There are chinese & indian takeaways within 50 meters. There are also two pubs in the village, one which serves good food.There is also Fishers across the road from us which is a smart clothes shop and also has a very good day time restaurant/café. Greystones is a small seaside town 10 minutes drive from here or a 20 minute bus journey. Greystones has very good places to eat during the day and evening time. Local Area This area is great for hiking and cycling and there are some beautiful places to visit not too far away one of them being Glendalough which is nestled in the Wicklow mountains. A monastic settlement, it has a beauty of its own with two lakes surrounded by forests and mountains. Location/Transport We provide private parking for guests. Newtownmountkennedy is 35k south of Dublin. Our house is in the middle of the village, 20 metres away from the bus stop. The 133 Bus Eireann takes you directly into Dublin city centre every hour. The Dublin Bus No.184 connects the village to Greystones & Bray every 30mins Guest access You will have your own private space.
