Description
The Old Post Office is a quirky, Grade 2 listed, thatched cottage, dating back to the late Sixteenth Century when it was originally two tiny cottages. The cottage has been tastefully modernised whilst retaining its many original features. The space The Cottage has off road parking for 2 vehicles. There is a large shed/garage with lockable storage space for bikes etc, a 4 person hot tub plus a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. There is a lawned garden to the rear of the property, with a patio dining area and a bbq. There is a hose available for washing down muddy boots and dog paws. Downstairs we have a w/c, a modern but traditionally styled kitchen with an adjoining pantry. There are separate living and dining areas each with a wood burning stove for cosying up on chilly evenings. Please note: The log burner in the dining room is out of use. A new one will be fitted in the new year. The oil fired central heating is very efficient though and there is a log burner in the lounge so you can be warm and cosy. Upstairs there are 2 spacious bedrooms with comfortable King Sized beds and a full modern bathroom with an over-bath shower. Guest access Entire house, garage and garden. Other things to note Guests should be aware that the property features low ceiling beams in some of the rooms, typical of cottages of this age, these are lowest in the living room and dining room but also around the sides of the bedrooms. The first floor windows in the bedrooms are very low to the ground (approx 1ft) and may be a safety concern for guests with small children. Please note that we are proud to be a dog friendly property. We stipulate that dogs should not go on the furniture or beds. After a dog/dogs have stayed every effort is made to ensure that all dog hair and smells are removed but this could still be problematic for those with allergies. Our garden is fully enclosed but the fence across the front is only around 4ft high. Our laundry is collected and delivered on a Thursday morning by a company called French & Launders. They will need to access the shed as that’s where the laundry bag is left. This is a 16th century cottage and my cleaning standards are meticulous, however, cobwebs and debris from the timber beams often appear in the blink of an eye. Due to the timber construction and thatched roof, smoking is strictly prohibited in and around the property. Candles are not permitted, however battery powered candles will be provided for you to use instead. Please note: The log burner in the dining room is out of use. However, our oil fired central heating is very efficient and there is a log burner in the lounge so you can be warm and cosy.
