Description
An enchanting Grade ll Listed house from the 15th Century, approached via long tree-lined driveway. Set amidst formal gardens and lawns, giving a high degree of seclusion and privacy. The house+studio sleeps a maximum 15 people. Please respect this rule. It is not available for large receptions/parties. NOTE: We require a 3 night minimum stay bank holiday weekends, and the months of June, July, August. We do not take bookings for the month of December. The space The Old Grange is a Grade ll Listed house, surrounded by well-maintained gardens that include two ponds and a stream/moat. A tennis and basketball court is located a short walk from the main house. A barn located near one of the ponds is used to store maintenance equipment and will be off-limits to guests. The main house has a large, fully equipped kitchen/informal dining area that can seat up to 8 people, with further seating for 2 at the central island. A Conservatory adjoins the kitchen, with doors providing access to the gardens and swimming pool (for use June- September only). The formal dining room is located off the kitchen, with seating for up to 10 guests comfortably. Leading from the dining room is a large drawing room with a wood burning fireplace and seating for 12. Continuing from the reception room there is a library with a wet bar. Next to the library is the main TV room with access to the garden. In total the main house has 6 bedrooms. Five of the bedrooms have en-suite bath/shower facilities. The detached Studio (see below) has 2 single beds in a loft area. We allow maximum total of 15 guests. Please respect this limit. You will be asked to sign a contract stating you will not have more than this number of guests staying at the house during your visit. NOTE: The Airbnb site doesn't let us include this on their booking calendar; but we require a 3 night minimum stay over all Bank Holiday weekends, June, July and August. In the detached studio, on the ground floor, there are many comfortable couches, a pool table which converts to a table tennis set (due to a removable top), a satellite TV, a music system, a kitchenette, and a bathroom. This area is wheelchair accessible, if you can manage one step up. There are two single beds in the loft area which overlook the ground floor + a single sofa bed on the ground floor. Next to the swimming pool is a second barn containing ping-pong table, an upstairs gym with weights, and a treadmill. This barn also houses a steam room, sauna and shower. Instructions to use the steam room and sauna will be provided. A path leads from the sauna and steam room to the outdoor Jacuzzi and swimming pool. The swimming pool is open June-September. It is heated July-September to approximately 25C. If during those 3 months, you would like it heated to 28C, there will be an additional cost of £100/day, payable on arrival with cash. If you want it heated in June, there will be an additional cost of £100/day of your stay + 2 days in advance of your stay (an additional £200), to bring the temperature up, payable on arrival with cash. Please let us know in advance if you require this. An outdoor stereo system, controlled from the kitchen, allows for music to complement your enjoyment of the pool area. There is no fence or gate around the swimming pool, so young children must be supervised by an adult at all times. Guest access The lower barn containing maintenance and gardening equipment will be off limits to guests. We kindly ask our guests to close all gates they have opened when walking the grounds and gardens. We also request our guests not disturb any sheep in the pasture (there 9 months a year), as they belong to a local farmer. Other things to note There are two public footpaths that run through the property. Please do not be surprised if, during your stay, you see groups of walkers cutting through the fields.
