Our Garden House offers a great place in the middle of a well appointed and nicely located neighborhood. It is comfortable, convenient, and cosy. The south sun exposure brings you beautiful light at all times of the day. You will be close to everything without having the traffic of it. We love our house and live here full time, and enjoy having guests when we are going to be out of town for a few weeks at the time. ah! did we mention you have your own parking spot in the city? =) The space The house is composed of a living room that enjoys a good amount of light and invites you to relax in the comfy sofas. The dinning room opens up to the deck/garden and has a hand-made wooden dinning set that we truly enjoy for meals . The kitchen is fully equipped with pots, pans, kettle, blender, toaster, coffee maker, Nespresso machine, microwave. The staircase takes you to the bedrooms. The master bedroom is cosy, spacious, full of light, and peaceful. It has a queen size bed, night stands, and hangers (behind the door) and a suitcase-stand for your use. The second bedroom has a very comfortable sofa bed and the desk with ergonomic chair for your comfort.. It also has a suitcase-stand for your use. There is a full bathroom with a stand-up shower/tub with good water pressure. Fresh towels and bed linens are provided. Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the house—nor in the deck, neither the gardens. Thanks for your kind consideration! There are window A/C units in each bedroom and the living room, and when all of them are on, the house gets pretty cool. For the winter time, there is thermostat in the main floor dining room which controls the radiators. It gets cozy and warm. We take care of our garden and enjoy it most mornings and evenings. One of the things we enjoyed the most is the light in the house, the south exposure and the skylights on the second floor bring beautiful sunlight. And still, we put blocking shades in both bedrooms to allow for a restful night even when sun comes up early in the summer. =) Our Garden House is nested in historic Burleith (Georgetown West), a friendly and safe neighborhood, poised for convenience and access to all areas of interest within Washington, DC. An easy five-minute stroll to Georgetown, a fifteen minute walk to Dupont, and with several busses just blocks from the door that take you downtown--to the White House and business areas. Plus Uber or Lyft always near by, you can be downtown in less than ten minutes. ah! There is a sizable TV in the living room. Please feel free to sign up with your Prime, Netflix or other service provider (note, We do not have Cable). Also, there are good books around the house (feel free to pick up one and return it)! =) And, about our kitchen--we have just changed it for a European one we brought from Italy. There are a couple of differences between American kitchens and European ones, the main one being the lack of "food disposal". So, please kindly, kindly do not put remanents of food or anything down the drain in the kitchen sink. It can block the pipes and repairing can be expensive and Airbnb may or not cover it with insurance since, following their guidelines, we are giving a warning note here. So, just put any remanents of food or waste on the trash bin. Thanks for doing that!! ah, Please note that there is no diswasher--as noted in the ammenities. We just bought it and it needs to be installed. Next time you stay with us, it will be up and running. The parking (for two cars) is located just behind the house, outside of the garden. The parking spot for the House is the one on the left hand side (facing the garden). The parking spot for the Garden Suite (which is listed separately here on Airbnb) is the one on the right hand side. Thanks for parking smoothly and as close to the sides as possible to allow for easy in/out and comfortable parking for us and any visitors. The parking is accessed through the alley, just four houses down the left from the main entrance (facing the main entrance, a few doors down, take the alley, then turn right into the wider alley). Please serve yourself to water, coffee, and tea upon your arrival. Take your coat off... stay for a while, make yourself at home! We aim to make your stay a comfortable one and help you enjoy your time in DC. Our goal is to have you back! =) Guest access The Garden House is only for your use and it is composed of your living room, dinning room, kitchen on the first floor, and master bedroom, second bedroom, and bathroom on the second floor. Our office is closed since we storage in there some of our stuff to make space for your visit! =) The parking spot is just behind our house. The washer and dryer for the whole house are in the Basement/Garden Suite in a closed compartment. These are shared with the Guests staying at the Garden Suite--if/when there are guests in both places I will coordinate closely so everybody is comfortable. The door that connects the Garden Suite with the Garden House is locked both ways, providing safety and security for all. Other things to note It is a lovely and quiet area within walking distance to some of the best restaurants and shopping in town, and just a short cab ride to the trendy 14th Street and its new restaurants and bars.
