Our private, off grid yurt is the perfect spot to relax and unwind after exploring the nearby coast of Maine. The six acre property is located just five minutes from downtown Ellsworth, malls and amenities. The space comfortably accommodates up to six adults within its five hundred square feet. A bundle of firewood is provided for the indoor cast iron wood stove and there is it plenty in the forest for the outdoor fire ring. Sleeping bags are a must have during the cooler months. Our property offers a private, scenic getaway for those who desire immersion in nature while still enjoying more modern comforts. The wood heated yurt offers a full kitchen, 2 propane lamps, hot running water, claw foot tub, sleeping loft, and wrap around, cedar deck perfect for enjoying the properties peaceful meadows, forests and wildlife. The yurt is a twenty minute drive to the National Parks beautiful scenery. The quaint, Blue Hill peninsula and Schoodic Point are also about the same distance. A food cooler (bring ice), board games, kitchenware, dishes and utensils are all provided. There is not WiFi. There is great cell service. It’s a good idea to pick up a bundle of firewood on the way. Bruce and Melissa are great hosts and their yurt is beautiful and well kept and taking care of... I would highly recommend this place!!! Pioneer Farm Way is a quiet, residential neighborhood located along the coast of Maine on a rural dirt road. The history of the area is rich in Native American culture and late colonization with an excellent historical exhibit in Bar Harbor. During summer and fall foliage season the Island Explorer is a bus service provided free by the national park. It runs every 15-30 minutes into Ellsworth and services all towns on Mt Desert Island. A party of cyclists can load their bikes directly onto the buses making it easy to get around without a car. A dog can board as well. Jedidiah the caretaker can be on site to assist with any questions and to provide recommendations.
