Private, comfy bedroom with private balcony
Private, comfy bedroom with private balcony
Description
You'll have a private, lockable bedroom with its own balcony, in a renovated four-story historic row house on one of the nicest streets in the city, near Logan Circle. Our block is quiet, leafy, yet close to some of the city's best nightlife and food, the Convention Center, and downtown. The host’s bedroom and her little daughter’s are on the same floor as this one. The child occasionally cries and laughs, so expect to hear some of that from your room. And we have a friendly young cat, Maxi. The space Your bedroom is in a four-story row house, originally built in 1890, in a neighborhood designated for historic preservation. You will have exclusive access to your own large balcony, with chairs and a table and large ceiling fans. The owner renovated the house to make it “green” - energy efficient - and cozy, so the heat comes from warm water circulating under all the floors. This hydronic radiant heat is clean (no dust or allergens like in forced air ducts), safe (no hot radiators), and comfy (nothing like walking on a warmed floor in the winter). The house also has high-efficiency air conditioning. (you’ll have your own unit that you can set to the temperature you prefer), lots of insulation, solar panels on the roof of the house, a large garden on the roof of the garage, and an electric car in the garage. We expect guests to join us in conserving energy, for example by turning out lights and A/C when leaving the house, and we’re glad to answer questions about green technology. While you’re staying with us, no one will enter your bedroom or balcony unless 1) you give permission or 2) there’s an emergency like a fire, while you’re out. Happily, we’ve never had such an emergency. You’re welcome to share the living room, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms, and all the gardens, and to use the washer and dryer whenever you like. Guest access You'll enjoy a shared bathroom and kitchen, living room, dining room, gardens and green roof, and washer and dryer. During your stay Guests are welcome to ask questions (in person or via text, message, or phone) and I’m happy to answer them, and to do whatever else I can to help them enjoy their visits to DC. They’re also welcome to spend time with me and my little daughter, or not, as they prefer. Other things to note Beds There is only one queen sized bed in the bedroom. Airbnb says there are two beds but that’s not correct unless you count the sofabed in the living room, where guests can stay if they need to, for example if their outbound flight was cancelled, and this bedroom is booked. Parking Our private garage, right behind the house, has a parking space for $20/day, or lower weekly and monthly fees. If you might want it, please ask when you book. Otherwise you can park on the street during nights and weekends, or, in most spaces, for two hours at a time on weekdays. Read the signs carefully to avoid getting a ticket. Book for yourself Please note that you may book the apartment for yourself, not for someone else. No third party bookings in other words, per Airbnb rules, except that Airbnb has a special interface for third party work bookings, which requires you to disclose the identity of the real guest.
