Stay in the idyllic cottage Klein-Thurow

The Klein-Thurow farmhouse is nestled in the most beautiful nature, surrounded by numerous lakes in the Schaalsee biosphere reserve. We have lovingly and meticulously restored the listed ensemble: the cottage conveys a lively impression of the rural everyday life of the past, which has been carefully harmonized with contemporary living requirements. The apartment opens at ground level to the garden, so the guest basically lives in the middle of nature. The space The rooms of the cottage are a successful mixture of historical furnishings with regional handmade rural unique pieces. Tiled stove instead of cable TV is the motto here. The cast-iron eye-catchers are fired by the guests themselves with provided wood. From the original wooden rung windows of the cottage, the view wanders over the beautiful cottage garden, to the evening sun it opens over the pond, the sheep pen and over wide fields to the horizon. Perhaps the most valuable thing, however, is not to be seen: the relaxing silence – or a background noise that is exclusively of natural origin. The hornbeam hedge surrounding the old cottage and the ivy-covered southern gable side serve songbirds as welcome nesting places. In May, you can listen to the evening frog concert on the jetty or watch the shooting stars comfortably from the lounger on a starry night in August. Guest access The listed ensemble of day laborer's cottage and other small outbuildings impresses with a high degree of unchanged structural features that still give a vivid impression of the rural everyday life of former day laborers. A small breakfast terrace, which is reached from the kitchen, is exclusively at your disposal, otherwise you share the approximately 3700 sqm garden with a few other guests* and us. *We offer two more apartments on our website Other things to note The apartment is rented weekly (from Saturday to Saturday). Outside the high season, shorter stays are also possible. Heating: Except for an electric heater in the bathroom, there are only wood-fired tiled and cast iron stoves – firewood is of course provided. In winter, no or only limited rental. Bicycles: For spontaneous excursions to our favorite swimming spots on nearby Golden Lake and Schaalsee, quickly accessible via dirt roads, we provide all guests with a Johnny Loco cargo bike for free shared use, as well as simple and now somewhat age-weary Union Holland bikes. For extensive tours, we offer 2 "Falter" bikes (€50/week, €10/day).
