Nestled in the hills above Seneca Lake, absolutely stunning views and the most peaceful and private surroundings await your escape to the Finger Lakes. This all-season modern tiny cabin is a private sanctuary & cozy retreat for couples or solo-travelers who are looking to relax, rejuvenate and get a taste of modern tiny living all while being just minutes from everything you need to explore in the Finger Lakes. Welcome to the ENGLISH CABIN! It's one of 4 micro-cabins that's on the land of the FLX Schoolhouse, a renovated 1875 schoolhouse, that is also a whole-house rental of FLX Escape Vacation Rentals. You’ll find us in the heart of the Finger Lakes, the picturesque wine region of upstate New York. Here are some of the things we adore about the cabin and where it is. THE LOCATION: * It's peaceful & quiet as it sits on 2.5 acres surrounded by woods and farmland. * It's perched on top of a hill giving way to the most amazing sunsets against mountain backdrops. * It's also conveniently located, close to all of your attractions. Within 5-8 miles you can hop on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, get to downtown Watkins Glen, take a hike at the Watkins Glen State Park or catch a race at The Glen International. You will find everything you need from farm stands and wineries, to restaurants and a convenient store along the way. *Want to head over to Ithaca or the Cayuga Lake wine trail, it's just a short 20-30 minute drive through farms, fields and the Finger Lakes State Forest. THE CABIN: It’s a year-round micro-cabin/tiny home built by local Amish families, with all of the modern amenities you'll need for a comfortable stay. Cute and cozy, the cabin is tiny at 200 sq. ft. of interior space and 120 sq. ft. of outdoor deck space with a grassy-green area; it’s perfect for a couple or solo-traveler. Each cabin has a privacy wall off the deck and there is 30 feet between each cabin so they are close enough if you are traveling with friends and family but far enough away that you still have your own privacy. OUTSIDE THE CABIN: THE OUTDOOR SPACE: The cabin is perched upon a hill surrounded by farm lands. We find ourselves hanging outside after a great day on the Seneca Lake wine trail or a hike on the local trails. Whether you are in the mood to light a fire in your personal fire pit while you gaze at the stars (on a clear night, you can see the Milky Way), grill up some farm market finds, or hang out on your private deck in your Adirondack chairs, the views are stunning. OUTDOOR GRILL & FIRE PIT: Each cabin has their own personal 4-burner gas grill with side burner. We provide grilling utensils, a 12" frying pan & a rubber spatula so you can cook up some breakfast or grill up some hot dogs and burgers outside at your cabin. Each cabin also has their own Breeo fire pit for camp fires and s'mores. **Firewood is available on-site for a fee.** INSIDE THE CABIN: THE KITCHENETTE: It’s cute but basic. You’ll find a mini fridge and microwave here with flatware & dinnerware but this isn’t a place to cook full meals. More so a place to re-heat takeout meals and keep your beverages cold. MORNING JAVA & TEA: You will find everything you need for a great cup, including a Stagg Kettle for killer pour-overs. SLEEP: When you want to rest, relax and rejuvenate, you need a comfortable bed, one that holds you. And that is what you’ll get here. A queen bed by Casper, the super comfortable memory foam bed adored by celebrities...and us! Plenty of pillows and warm blankets so you can relax and unwind with ease. THE BATHROOM: This is not a glamping cabin; you have your own private bathroom. It’s fully-functional with a standing shower, fluffy towels and yes, a flushing toilet. THE DECOR: From schoolhouse inspired vintage finds to hints of modern minimalism throughout, our love of Scandinavian design can be found around every tiny corner with pieces from our favorite brands like West Elm, CB2, and Crate & Barrel. TECHNOLOGY: Working remotely? The micro-cabin has strong wifi, and a smart TV. COMPLIMENTARY AMENITIES: * 4 oz. of locally roasted organic coffee beans from Seneca Sunrise Coffee to start your stay * Organic tea by Apolis Tea for the tea lovers * Shampoo by Public Goods * Conditioner by Public Goods * Body Wash by Public Goods * Lotion by Public Goods * Hand Soap by Public Goods * Bottled water * Yummy snacks * Freshly laundered bed linens * Fluffy bathroom towels, hand towels, and washcloths HAVE MORE GUESTS? You can rent all 4 of the micro-cabins, the FLX Schoolhouse which is right next door, and the FLX Farmhouse which is 3 miles down the road! Simply click on my Profile picture below and it will take you to all my listings. You can also search your dates and see what is available with all of the listings at one time. Guest will have sole access to their cabin during their stay and will access the cabin through a coded keypad. Access includes your cabin & deck along with the grassy area with your private fire pit. Guest will have sole access to their cabin during their stay and will access the cabin through a coded keypad. Access includes your cabin & deck along with the grassy area with your private fire pit. While we do not live on the property, we are accessible by phone or text and have property managers that live close by if needed. The FLX Micro-cabins are 5 miles to the first winery on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. On the trail, there are many wineries and breweries along with a distillery and a cider house. Watkins Glen is 5 miles from the house and a convenient mart (the Dandy) is just down the road on Rt. 79 with food, beer, firewood, gas and an ATM. Heading to Ithaca, it's only 20 minutes from the house and you will find an eclectic mix of eats and culture there. While we are not directly on Seneca Lake, you can access it in Watkins Glen for kayaking, sailboat tours and boat rentals. You will find waterfront dining there too. Upon booking, we will provide you with an interactive (great for accessing via your cell phone) guidebook that lists out everything you need to know about the home and the region as well as our Top 10 places to eat, drink, play and explore! You will need a car to get around. There are private drivers, limo and party bus companies. Uber/Lyft are not reliable at this time. See our House Manual for more details. CLEANING PROTOCOL: We use a professional cleaning company to clean, disinfect and sanitize the entire cabin between guests. Cleaning supplies are also available for your use. PLEASE NOTE: *This cabin is a non-smoking inside the cabin, no pets, no parties, rental. No smoking inside the cabin includes, but is not limited to: cannabis, vaping, cigarettes and cigars. *DO NOT MOVE THE FIREPIT. Your firepit is located in the field below your cabin. Do not move it close to the cabin or put it on the deck. We had a previous guest do this and it almost burnt down the entire cabin when they thought the fire was out but it wasn't. Please, do not move it from its location. *By booking this cabin, you agree to these terms and conditions and those outlined in our house manual. Any violation of these may result in a minimum of $250 house violation fee.
