Downtown, walk to EVERYTHING! Avery House
Welcome to Avery House! Avery House is situated just a few short blocks from historic downtown Bardstown, “Most Beautiful Small Town in America” (Rand McNally and USA Today). Feel at home in our private, cozy, cottage, situated on a small, charming street close to downtown shopping, restaurants and historic attractions. With so much to see and do rest assured Avery House will offer the perfect cozy space to relax and reenergize! Although Avery House provides a fully functioning kitchen with brand new appliances, you may want to take a break from cooking to sample the many eateries nearby. “The Bourbon Capital of the World” is home to 11 distilleries and in 2019 Bardstown became the newest Official Gateway sponsor to the world-famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail. This makes Bardstown the perfect choice for anyone who wishes to tour any of the historic distilleries (Maker’s Mark, Heaven Hill, Jim Beam, Four Roses, etc) and experience a taste of Southern hospitality. Be sure to visit the highly regarded Civil War Museum and legendary “My Old Kentucky Home“ during your stay here. You could also enjoy a horse and carriage ride through town while here or a simple stroll to take in the many beautiful homes. If visiting during the summer months, “The Stephen Foster Musical” in the outdoor amphitheater is a must see. In early Fall Bardstown hosts a Craft Fair and of course the Bourbon Festival. Whether you are here for business or pleasure, the town offers plenty for everyone. Your stay at Avery House will just add to the charm and comfort of this picturesque small town. Bottled water and snacks will be provided upon your arrival. The property itself has 2 bedrooms with queen size beds. Both have smart T.V.s. There is one bathroom (tub/shower) between them and a small hallway. A hairdryer is stored in the bathroom closest. In the hallway there is a broom closet which has an iron, cleaning supplies, laundry basket. The living room opens up into the kitchen. It has a TV also and seating for 4. The kitchen should have everything you need, including a kettle, toaster, coffee pot and Keurig. There is also a full size washer and dryer. Should guests need anything the host is a phone call away. Guests will have full access to the property. I will be a available via text during your stay if you have any questions. I am a short drive away from the home. Avery House is located in safe and charming, tree lined neighborhood and only a five minute walk to downtown or the Oscar Getz Museum of Whiskey History. There is no public transportation so walking or a taxi is your best option for downtown. If driving, there is street parking and a parking lot behind “Mammy’s Kitchen” and in front of “Hadorn’s”, the best Donut Shop in town! If you want to get out of town and enjoy a pretty walk or run it is a short drive to Nazareth or Bernheim where you can enjoy the peace and tranquillity of nature. You may even see deer! ~There is a smokeless wood burning fire pit that guests may use upon request (it is stored otherwise). Guests need to provide their own wood bundle. ~Garbage is collected early Monday mornings. If guests are staying through Monday it is a good idea to put it out at curbside on Sunday evening. ~ parking is in front of the house at curbside or behind the house on the brick patio. ~ security cameras at outdoor entry points.
