Hundred Acre Studio is a charming retreat down a private track on the Ashdown Forest. In the heart of Winnie the Pooh country, it is a perfect base for exploring the many pubs, beautiful walks, vineyards, heritage railway, and National Trust properties in the area. Close to the South Downs and the coast, as well as nearby Tunbridge Wells with its historic old town and weekly summer jazz nights. It is the ideal country getaway; private, quiet, and with everything you need for a break. The space The Studio has its own access via a private courtyard, with outside table and chairs to soak up the sun. Recently renovated and designed with luxury and comfort in mind, it is a small but perfectly formed retreat. King-sized double bed with luxury hypoallergenic duvet and pillows and crisp bed linen. Perfectly appointed waterfall shower room and separate loo, with lovely soap and shampoo provided. Equipped kitchenette for modest cooking, or simply opening a bottle of bubbly to enjoy. Tea, coffee and other essentials provided, along with a Dolce Gusto coffee pod machine. Adjoining my cottage and set in about half an acre of garden, there is direct access over a rustic bridge straight onto the glorious Ashdown Forest, with many miles of tracks to explore. A couple of pubs can be walked to within about an hour, or you can drive to many others. In the areas you can also experience a wide range of adventures: ~ Embrace your inner child at Poohsticks Bridge and enjoy a 'smackeral' at Pooh Corner as you explore ~ Many amazing National Trust properties, glorious gardens, and historical sites to visit such as Hever Castle and Wakehurst Place ~ Local vineyards, including Bluebell Vineyard, home of Hindleap sparking wine, and with Nyetimber, Chapel Down and others a little further afield to explore ~ Outdoor adventures from cycling to horse-riding, rock climbing, and bushcraft, a wealth of outdoor activities can be found to suit any taste ~ Great local eateries with cosy fireplaces in the winter and fabulous gardens and views in the summer, several within walking distance ~ Journey back in time with fine dining, special events and even the chance to drive a steam engine yourself with The Bluebell Railway ~The Pantiles and Chalybeate Spring, located in nearby Royal Tunbridge Wells, enjoy the artisan shops, regular market and the famous weekly jazz nights all through the summer ~ Visit one of the finest and most celebrated opera houses in the world at Glyndebourne, nestled in the heart of the South Downs National Park ~ Get creative with a course at the Ashdown Pottery or with other local craftspeople Guest access Access to the property is via private electric gates (code provided) and there is ample parking. There is a gentle sloping lawn or paved steps down to the cottage and the Studio is accessed via a paved pathway to the back of the cottage. Other things to note A car is strongly advised as the nearest shop is around 4 miles away. Please note the cooking facilities are a 2-ring hob, microwave, kettle and toaster plus all pans, utensils and crockery etc. Perfect for modest meals but no conventional oven. Access to an iron, ironing board and washer/dryer can be provided on request. There is one dog living at the property, but he is extremely friendly! The garden is not secure and as such we cannot welcome visiting dogs.
