Nestled in the heart of rural Normandie, this charming cottage offers a tranquil haven for advocates of country life, nature lovers, outdoor enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, artists & writers or indeed anyone just seeking time out from the everyday rat-race of life. We look forward to welcoming you at Les Basses Loges! The space This charming cottage forms part of a small group of farm buildings in the tiny hamlet of Les Basses Loges. Originally housing 'le pressoir' (cider-press), the accommodation now comprises cosy, open-plan living area with log burner*; exceptionally well-appointed dining kitchen with patio doors onto private terrace & garden, 2 bedrooms (sleeps 5) & shower-room. Recently completely renovated, La Chouette offers a cosy, romantic rural retreat. Its original character & Normandie architecture, oak beams in abundance, exposed stone & feature fireplace/staircase have been retained & together with a traditional English 'country-house style' interior decor, creates a tranquil haven, perfectly placed in its panoramic surroundings. Misty mornings, treeline silhouettes & unrivalled sunsets will greet you daily .... well almost! A fire-pit is provided for BBQing or just evening star-gazing - absolutely no light pollution here - even the silence can be deafening!! I hope that you too will 'fall in love' with my home - just as I did all those years ago! * The first basket of logs are provided FOC/'gratuit' - thereafter wood for the log burner will be charged at 5 euros/basket. Guest access Forming part of an ancient 'fermette' & cider orchard, La Chouette sits in the middle of 30 acres of Normandie grassland - primarily grazed by a herd of milk cows, whose milk is used to produce some of Normandie's famous cheese. Guests are welcome to walk in these fields - although, of course, dogs must be kept on leads & under control at all times. The immediate cottage patio & garden opens on to a replanted orchard & developing 'potager' & soft fruit beds. Feel free to 'pick your own' or to do some hedgerow 'foraging' - there's always a glut! A secure lock-up for bikes & other outside 'activity' kit with wash-down facilities is provided. La Chouette has one allocated parking space - although 'oodles' of extra space is available. Other things to note IDEALLY 7 NIGHTS MINIMUM STAY SATURDAY TO SATURDAY but I wish to be as flexible as possible with dates, so please get in touch if you have other requirements. Camp-cot for a baby is available on request - please supply own bedding for this. Please note that the cottage is not 'toddler-friendly' due to log burner, open tread staircase, no stairgates, easy open access to farmland/farm & domestic animals etc.
