Cozy two story traditional log cabin located in“ The Land of Waterfalls”, this vacation retreat sleeps eight including two large bedroom suites and a spacious loft. A comfy living room with skylights and a woodburning fireplace. Fully loaded country kitchen and dining area, plenty of room! Relax on our screened in porch , deck or backyard flagstone patio, overlooking our wooded mountain property, enjoying a barbecue or the plentiful views of wildlife and our babbling brook! Bambi says hi! The space Entry and Security: Our cabin has three entry doors, the front entrance door, left side entry door up the stairs and through the screened porch and also the rear entry door from second level deck into the Queen bedroom suite. The front door is equipped with a keyless, coded lock box entry pad. Code for this door will be provided to our guests upon arrival. The side and rear entrance doors are keyed locks which are provided to our guests upon request. We ask you to be considerate when coming and going and properly secure the property. Screened Porch: The cabin is also equipped with a screened in porch, located off of the side of the home, entrance from interior near the rear of kitchen. The porch is set up to chill, including rocking chairs, cedar furniture and a love seat. You can walk through the back of the porch and a screen door to the outdoor second level deck which is in the rear of the cabin. Our outdoor rear deck provides great views of the outdoors and includes a double door entrance into the queen suite bedroom. A propane grill for a barbecue is also here. Our wooded side and rear yards are a haven for wildlife including the deer, white squirrels, chipmunks and wild turkeys which frequently visit to eat. You may even spot a black bear if the time is right! While relaxing on our porch or deck and strolling the wooded grounds you may notice our custom “Bathouse” which is mounted to a tree in front of our driveway! Bats are nocturnal and numerous at night to our area. During the day some bats make their home here in our Bathouse, hanging upside down on the screen installed inside and sleeping the daylight hours away. Once darkness arrives it is time to play. Bats actually eat 6,000 to 8,000 insects a night, including thousands of mosquitos, their appetite making the yard a bit more comfortable and insect free! Patio/Recreation Storage: Outside in the rear yard is our Flagstone patio where you can relax under the deck and if needed out of the rain. Unwind and enjoy the peaceful view and sounds of our Blue Ridge mountain retreat. The entrance door under the porch slides open and is our recreation storage area. Here you will find two kayaks with paddles to use in our numerous lakes located right here in Connestee Falls. Please follow detailed rules for usage of kayaks. Climate Control: Our cabin is equipped on the first level with central HVAC split system air conditioning for cool flow or heat. The Nest thermostat for controlling temperature is located on the living room wall right side of couch towards kitchen. We have autoset limits for better efficiency, but you will be sure to find the right temperature for your optimum comfort. On the second level there is an HVAC mini split system that is located in the King Suite, air handler controlled by a remote located on wall at entrance. We have floor fans and portable heaters for the second floor loft area if needed. Select windows in the cabin (including the loft) have screens enabling the guest to sleep or enjoy a fresh breeze or breathe of fresh air with an open window. Eating/ Dining: Our rustic style kitchen and dining area is fully equipped with basically anything that you need to prepare and enjoy any kind of meal. Start your day in the log cabin with the irresistible smell of bacon, eggs and toast or a stack of fresh pancakes smothered in butter and fresh maple syrup. Slow cook a pot of chili all day while your family hikes a nature trail to a waterfall. Maybe a BBQ is your choice, lighting a Weber charcoal fire on our flagstone patio after your daily activities while preparing your salads and sides in the kitchen. The choices are yours. Butcher block countertops and new appliances including a microwave. Starting with our cookware, pots and pans overhang from above for easy access. Other accessories include such things as a blender, slow cooker, toaster, Keurig coffee maker and baking utensils and supplies as well. Our dining table will sit 6-8 people comfortably with dinnerware for all. You may notice the select locked base cabinets (2) that are inaccessible to you during the stay. Contained inside is just the supplies needed by our cleaning and sanitizing staff in between our guest visits. Garbage Disposal: Connestee Falls community has a garbage dump that is located behind The Dollar General Store down off Rte 276 just outside our gates. The East Fork Gate by far is the quickest route, 10 minutes or less from our driveway. We ask that your dispose of your own garbage during your extended stay or after a short stay upon checkout. Recyclable materials are separated as Transylvania County and the surrounding areas are very big on proper disposal and environmental conservation. Please make note of garbage cans on porch marked for separation. This will make it easier for you upon disposal. There is a 2.50 fee for each bag of normal garbage at the dump, recyclables are free. We recommend two kitchen garbage bags into one larger bag for regular garbage, all size bags are the same cost. We do provide free coupon for disposal to each guest. Thank you for your consideration with garbage disposal, with everyone’s help we can take care of the natural beauty in this area for years or decades to come! Directions to garbage dump: Make a left out of our driveway and continue the one mile to the end of Soquili Drive. Make a right on to Connestee Trail and continue down hill for about 1/2 mile to the East Fork Gate. After exiting gate continue out to make a left on East Fork Road. Continue on East Fork Road about one mile to end. Make a left on to Route 276. You will immediately see the Dollar General Store on right side. Make your first right at the store off of Route 276. Garbage dump area is located about 1/8 of a mile up hill on your right side. Living Room and Fireplace: A perfect setting is here for relaxing and enjoyment including a large sectional couch with ottoman, leather reclining chair and A 42” flat screen HDTV for that family movie or sporting event! The living room is made complete by a corner wood-burning fireplace/ stove creating that log cabin ambience, stocked with limited supply of wood for your use. Want to read a book? Local Native American novels are located in living room for your reading pleasure. Get ready to create lasting memories here with family and friends, a hearty fire burning with great company, laughter and love. We ask that you operate the fireplace with care and consideration to cleanup and safety. Fireplace/ Wood Burning Stove Rules/Operations: Our wood burning fireplace/ stove is ready for use during your stay, with some rules to abide by. Family safety first and of course respect for the property and it’s contents. A fireplace is a special asset to have but must be handled and managed with care. Fire hazards do exist. •Please operate with an adult present, minimum age of 25 years old. •Only burn the firewood provided, starter logs are also approved one at a time. Do not under any circumstances burn other materials or use any type of chemicals to ignite. • Our firewood supply is located on the screened in porch and in lesser supply near the wood-burning stove. Depending on the length of the stay, owner and guest will agree prior to check in on the amount of firewood for usage. •There is a limit of two medium size logs at once including your starter log. Our wood burning stove is medium in size and can not hold more then two logs during one fire. We permit two logs, one duraflame starter log on bottom and second wood log slashed over top. This will create a solid fire for 3-4 hours. Handle with care, stacking your logs for fire in a safe manner and avoiding hot embers from discharging onto flooring outside the fireplace. •Familiarize yourself with the use of the damper, which must be opened when burning a fire and closed when fireplace is not in use. The damper control is located in front of stove, pulling out to open and pushing in to close. The damper controls the heat and smoke created by the fire, VERY IMPORTANT it is open during use, releasing the smoke through the chimney and not into the cabin. Close damper when not using for interior climate control, notably the heat in colder weather. •Cleanup, the following morning or when ashes and burnt embers are 100% cooled down. Note 100% cooled down, VERY IMPORTANT RULE. Please carefully sweep and clean out ashes in a safe manner, preventing kickback of dust when bagging your debris. Sleeping: We like to think that there is plenty of room to rest, comfortably sleeping 8 people in our beds. Our beds are equipped with pillow top mattresses, cozy linens and plenty of pillows! We can start on the main level. In the rear of the first level lies the Queen Suite bedroom, equipped with a four post queen size bed, full long dresser and an armoire for hanging your clothes. There is also a cozy queen size futon available in this suite as well, an additional bed or couch for lounging and relaxing. There is a night table dresser that has a digital alarm clock, USB port and a reading lamp. A 42” flat screen HDTV is wall mounted for viewing here as well. Next would be up the winding stairs to the second level where you will first see The Loft, which overlooks the living room and fireplace below. Be careful and watch your step when walking the angled stairway. The loft is equipped with two twin size log beds that are ready for an overnite sleep or just an afternoon nap! In between the beds is a night table dresser that has a digital alarm clock, USB port and a reading lamp. Moving down the second floor hallway towards the rear of the cabin will bring you to the Kings Suite bedroom, a massive master bedroom tucked away for complete privacy. Here lies a four post king sized bed, a night table dresser again with digital alarm clock, USB port and a reading lamp. A 42” flat screen HDTV is wall mounted overlooking the bed. Upon entering the bedroom is a full long dresser ready to hold your clothing. There is also a love seat and ottoman here for relaxing as well. Full bedroom length closet w hangers is present here.
