Sustainable, adobe cottage, Sacred Valley, Cusco
SUSTAINABLE TRAVEL IN A SELF BUILT ADOBE COTTAGE LOCATED: Huaran, centre of the Sacred Valley 1.5 hours to Cusco / 1 hour to Ollantaytambo(train station) / 30 min to Urubamba. WE OFFER: - welcome basket, -use of our laundry, bbq & firepit, TO DO: Hikes/waterfall/nature/relax/archeological sites/craft brewery in Urubamba/homemade ice cream at Viva PeruCafe/traditional markets/yoga/retreats The space The cottage is located on the one side of our house, and built almost entirely by Juberth. It is constructed using adobe bricks, and is well insulated. There are some eco building features, including some glass bottle bricks to let in extra light, recycled door frames, and locally made windows. The flooring is artesinal ceramic terracota style tiles, and the grey water supplies trees in front of the cottage. You have your own lounge, kitchen, bathroom and comfortable bedroom, with an additional mezzanine space as an office. Views from the windows onto Pitusiray peak and the Sacred Valley are simply amazing! The house is situated on a 2000 square metre property. At the back of the house is a barbecue ,an adobe oven, which you are welcome to use. In front of the house we have a bench where you can sit and enjoy the view, the sun setting on the Pitusiray Peak in front of you, and have a fire in the fire pit. We have a separate laundry area,with washing machine ,which you are welcome to use. Guest access The accommodation is situated on our small piece of farm land, where we grow seasonal produce. The barbecue area in the backyard and front. The washing machine and laundry is available to use. There is a wifi in the cottage, 140mbs, unlimited. In the front yard we have a covered seating area around the fire pit, which can be used by guests. Other things to note We are located approximately an hour and 20 min outside of Cusco. It is possible to reach us with a taxi or local transport - which is easy to explain. Getting to and from Machu Picchu from our house - if you are going by train from Ollantaytambo station - public transport is an option (S/.5 per person) or a taxi can be arranged quite easily (+-S/.100) - recommended for very early trains or night time arrivals.
