Veranda on the Aegean--near Nafplio

Waterfront top 2 floors in Kiveri with stunning views from the spacious veranda. Our place is on the Aegean sea and close to the beautiful town of Nafplio, the ancient sites at Mycenae, Tiryns, Argos and Epidauros, among others, and numerous crystalline beaches, including one just 90 feet below--you can hear the gentle waves. Past guests have called it "fantastic," "a real find," and "magnificent." Our place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, and families (with kids). The space Top 2 floors, well landscaped, five-story beach-front house across Argolid Gulf from Nafplio, a beautiful ten-mile drive around the gulf. It's just 112 steps to the beach below, 15 minutes to Astros, 40 minutes to the ancient Epidavros theater or the sandy beaches of Tolo. From the spacious veranda there are amazing views of the ancient Argos fort and the Palamidi of Nafplio, the island of Spetses, outlines of the Mycenae acropolis, the ruins of ancient Tiryns. Much of Greek mythology is set nearby. The sound of waves against the shore is continuous and fine swimming is accessible by walking down a flight of steps. The stony beach has crystalline water and privacy, since it is hard to reach from public areas. The Tavernas of the village are a five-minute walk by a path along the water. The house has wireless broadband. There is plenty of parking on the road in front of the house, which is built by a cliff so that the veranda in back is some 90 feet above the water while the apartment entry on the front side of the house is at road level. Hot water: There is a switch to turn the hot water on and off. It is in the electrical box to your left as you enter the apartment. It is the double switch in the middle row on the right. The “on” position is up and the “off” is down. A little red light will go on the water heater in the downstairs bathroom when the water heater us on. Give it about 10 minutes to heat the water, depending on how much hot water you expect to use. Be sure to turn it off when you leave. Swimming: The water directly below is very clear and clean and wonderful to swim in. It’s a rocky beach, and we find that it’s best to go in wearing swimming shoes made of fabric and/or plastic, easily purchased for a few Euros. You may find snorkeling worthwhile on one of the mornings when the water is calm. Guest access You will have access to the whole apartment, including the spacious veranda, and the semi-private beach below, reachable via a 112 step outdoor staircase next to the apartment. The same stairway leads to a pathway into the center of the village of Kiveri, a beautiful ten minute walk along the sea. Other things to note The Veranda comes with a manually operated awning that you can put up in the afternoon and evening to enjoy an even fuller view and put down in the morning for shade from the sun. NB: ALWAYS put the awning up if there is any possibility of bad weather or you will be away for more than a few hours. Wind and rain may damage it if it is down. Registration Details 00000367761
