Camp Fox Den. A waterfront A-frame with a view.
Rustic & vintage hunt | fish camp, circa 1965. Escape the city and relax on the large deck overlooking a peaceful pond. The cabin is surrounded by graceful live oaks and is often visited by wildlife including deer, eagles and sandhill cranes. Great fishing is around the bend - Our pond connects to Little and Big Lake Kerr via private channel. Conveniently situated in the middle of Ocala national forest. 5 minutes from Salt Springs State Park. Silver Glen and Juniper Springs are 15-20 mn. The space The vintage, hunt/fishcamp sits on a 1/3 acre lot with plenty of parking for your outdoor toys. There is a charcoal grill, canoe with paddles, life jackets and a small dock. A fire pit sits next to the lake for your enjoyment. I supply guests with basic coffee, condiments, soap and cleaning supplies to get your vacation started with ease. The Dollar General is 5 minutes away for last minute shopping, along with local dining options. Guest access Electronic key code door lock. Other things to note - Absolutely NO pets allowed. We have family with pet allergies and this cabin is a safe haven. Don't even ask, we are strict with this policy. -The house is on a sulfur well. We don't recommend drinking the water because of the taste / sulfur smell. It is double filtered and is perfectly fine for showers, cooking and washing dishes. It is the same water that is at the famed "Fountain of Youth Park." The iron content can discolor linens and surfaces. If you aren't familiar, please bring a gallon of water with you for your needs. - Verizon cell towers are in the Ocala Forest, but many other networks aren't. Please print or screen shot directions before heading out, as some cell coverage is limited. - The fireplace chimney is sealed. Do NOT try to light a fire in the fireplace EVER. Battery operated candles are great! - The home is in the middle of the forest on a dirt road. This means regular wildlife visits/sightings. Whether it is deer, eagles, bears, mosquitos, sasquatch, snakes, or cranes, we share the area with them. Be bear aware: Never leave food or trash outside or in your vehicle. Drive careful and wear bug spray. - There is no trash service in the forest and we ask guests to be "bear aware" with your waste products - Absolutely NO trash or food can be left outside or in your vehicle. Please take your trash to the (free) drive through Salt Springs Recycling Center when you check out. - Extended visitation will require regular trash drop off at the local garbage / recycling center on the southside of Big Lake Kerr: 13580 NE 203rd Avenue Rd, Salt Springs, FL 32134 - Please note that any body of water in Florida is likely to have an American Alligator in residence. Our lake is no exception - Please never feed or approach them. Alligators have a natural fear of humans and will retreat if left alone. Please do not allow children to throw rocks or splash things in water (especially) in the evening, when alligators are most active. - Pro tip: Due to confessions, the spring parks around the Ocala National Forest do NOT take National Park passes. They offer their own annual $60 per person, Ocala Forest pass. This pass will get you into Silver Glen, Alexander and Juniper Springs for a year after purchase.
