Description
Located in Northumberland, at the western edge of Kielder Forest and 14 miles from Haltwhistle, The Bothy is uniquely placed to access a wide range of the area's most beautiful locations and iconic attractions. Offering immediate access to vast forest and moorland environments to explore, replete with breathtaking views and perfect silence, our cottage is ideal for those who are in search of peace and quiet. * Kielder Observatory is a 2hr car trip from The Bothy, via the B6318 'Military Road'. The space Built in 1850 by the Charlton family of nearby Hesleyside Hall, Churnsike Lodge was originally used as a hunting lodge, providing accommodation for the Charltons and their shooting companions as they roamed the Kielder moors for grouse. The Bothy, once the home of the resident gamekeeper, now serves as a comfortable and private holiday home for anyone aspiring to a restful and relaxing stay in one of England's last truly remote locations. Other things to note Being a remote location, Churnsike Lodge makes use of a number of self-sustainable services. This includes a biomass boiler central heating system, and a private borehole water source. To allay any concerns, the borehole is a fully filtered system and tested annually to meet local authority regulations. We also provide an electric log effect heater in the kitchen and a wood pellet stove in the living room to supplement the central heating. Please note, the pellet stove will be filled on your arrival, but subsequent fills will incur a small charge.
