Description

Experience the airiness of life up among the pines in Georgetown, ME. Unique tree dwelling with cedar hot tub perched atop 21-acre wooded hill sloping to water views. Set in classic coastal Maine village w/ Reid State Park beaches and famed Five Islands Lobster Co. River views from the King size bed, through wall of windows. The space We invite you to this custom built tree dwelling. This abode is called "Madawaska", which means "where two rivers join". Part tree house, part tiny house, the dwelling consists of two elevated structures connected by a private deck (on posts with trees growing up through) and WOOD FIRED CEDAR HOT TUB, we provide fire-wood for the hot tub. Structures are accessed by a SPIRAL STAIRCASE. We've used vintage and salvaged materials when possible. STRUCTURE #1: a bedroom, with an entire wall of south facing windows, affording stunning river views. Includes KING SIZE BED (or two twin beds upon request). STRUCTURE #2: includes a small kitchen and small dining area with large windows for water views, a small full bathroom, and a screened-in porch with sitting area, and river views. KITCHEN & COOKING DETAILS: two-burner stove, sink, small fridge, pots, pans, dishes, toaster oven (no regular oven), salt & pepper, 2-cup drop coffee maker that we provide filters for. If you plan on having a cookout there's a charcoal grill at the dwelling, please bring your own charcoal. For late night stargazing and s'mores there's a small fire-pit, please bring your own fire-wood for the fire-pit. Both structures have views across a river bay, and down river to where the Back River meets the Kennebec River (hence "Madawaska") just before both flow into open ocean, past Seguin Island (where George Washington commissioned a lighthouse). PET POLICY: as much as we love pets we have a strict no-pet policy in our dwellings! AUTUMN VISITS: Come stay in the tree dwelling in Autumn for stunning views of foliage and crisp walks along the marsh back to the tree dwelling to warm up in the cedar hot tub. The dwelling is well insulated and warms up quickly with our top quality wall mounted heating units. WINTER VISITS: Enjoy a stay in the quieter winter months, cozy up inside with a warm blanket and hot drink. Enjoy the gorgeous view from the hot tub as the snow falls. Please note: To get to the bathroom from the bedroom requires walking across a small outdoor deck. bring your slippers! We'll provide a robe. Pause to look up at the stars. WATER: The water in our dwellings comes from our own private well. It is safe to drink and we test if every year. However, you might notice it tastes slightly of minerals/iron, this is due to the water coming from our own well. Again, it is totally safe to drink and shower with and cook with. CANOES & KAYAKS: Canoes and kayaks are available to use free of charge during your stay. You can find them and the launch by foot by walking down towards the gathering space, over the bridge, take a left and stay on that dirt road, past the boat yard and over the little hill. At the top of the road keep left and you will see the river and the red barn doors. By car put in 116 Back River Bend into your maps, follow that road past the boat yard up the little hill. Parking is to the right, then walk down toward the barn and the boat launch. Lifejackets can be found in the plastic tote by the canoes & kayaks. For more info on how to use them see the binder inside the dwelling. YOGA: We offer private yoga classes in our gathering space upon availability. Message for more details. PROXIMITY TO OUR OTHER DWELLINGS: Our 3 dwellings are located about 160-170 feet away from each other. All angled in slightly different directions for privacy. THE VIEWS: Gorgeous views down the Back River, and across the river lie hundreds of acres of pristine conservation land. Guest access The space and the 21 acre property are yours. There are two other dwellings on the property, which are rentable. In addition, guests have access to adjoining 40 acre peninsula with docks, trails and cottages.
