Welcome to the Glass Hollow Cottage! Come make yourself at home and enjoy the rustic charm of our custom hand-built cottage. A perfect getaway for a couple or friends who want a 1-of a-kind destination. Adventure and R & R await you!!! Enjoy the well stocked kitchen & the bright, clean, cheery ambience.... everything you need to feel at home & then some. Prime location: Just minutes to Rt. 151/Brew Ridge Trail, dozens of popular wineries/breweries, Wintergreen Resort & Shenandoah Nat. Park. Come relax in style and find peace and serenity in our little slice of paradise. Location is key in our cute chic cottage, tucked in a beautiful hollow in the heart of Nelson County. The cottage is a dreamy space for a couple, Friends or solo traveler. (We do not allow children here, as we find the steep spiral staircase a bit much for wee-little peeps.) The whole place was thoughtfully crafted, from the wood of an old Appalachian barn that once stood on the property. You will find many special touches throughout, like big wooden beams, a spiral staircase, hand built tables milled from wood on our land, super-comfy bed with high quality linens and local landscape photos throughout, taken by Kate, your host. The cottage is cozy, yet open and spacious, with a lot of natural lighting and infused with love & care. Situated on a 25 acre sanctuary in the mountains, at the base of the famous Humpback Rocks. A perfect setting & escape for those who want to bask in the outdoors and enjoy all this area has to offer. After your days adventures, kick your feet up & feel right at home! Let your cares melt away! Sip your coffee or wine from the porch swing or watch the grazing cows out the kitchen window. Gaze at the stars & roast a smore from your own private campfire. The 720 square foot cottage is ideal for 2 adults, with a cozy bedroom sleeping loft. (3rd person can sleep on the couch or there is a nice twin blow up mattress available.) Make sure to check out Kate's Guide Book- with her favorite hikes, restaurants, farmers markets & more highlighting all the features, that make this area a stellar destination. Feel free to reach out for special-off the beaten path adventures, eateries and must do’s. THINGS TO NOTE: We recognize that some of these things may not be suitable for all guests. So please read thoroughly! No pets allowed. No children. (We’re sorry, but the staircase can be a hazard for young ones, as it is right in the main flow of the cottage and there is no way to block it off.) Country living: The cottage is in the country. You may see flies, critters, mosquitos, or no-seeums (that may be present at dusk during the warmer months). This is part of our "close to nature charm". Neighbors: The cottage is mostly private but we have two renters who are friendly & neighbor the cottage at the far side within view. They have chickens and a yellow lab who would be happy to say hello or not. The chickens are in an area with an electric fence to protect them. Please be aware of this. There is also shared garden space within your view. Accessibility: There is a 2' wide semi- narrow spiral staircase to the lofted bedroom, the bedroom has angled ceilings (a 5'9' and taller person will have to duck a little bit on the one side of the bed). The stairs make this cottage unsuitable for guests with small children or those with mobility or balance challenges. If your up a bit in the night, please note that the bathroom is accessed via these spiral stairs. We run a nature school, The Living Earth School on the 25 acre property at times. Occasionally there may be some participants at the classroom barn area that borders the cottage or equipment in view. There is a smart TV with no cable, bring your Netflix or other tv passwords with you to have access There is no Dishwasher No smoking in the cottage No parties! Quiet hours are from 10pm to 8am Our family lives through the woods on the back corner of the 25 acres in their hand built home with abundant gardens and permaculture orchards. We want you to have privacy and be able to relax and make yourself at home in this beautiful mountain getaway. (Which will be easy to do!) If you need anything at all, just send us a message. We are happy to answer any questions you have during your stay. We may be home on the land or we may be out on our own adventures. We want your stay to be AWESOME! Kate is a mother, an avid hiker, backpacker, kayaker, paddle boarder and knows the trails and water ways of the area in and out and yummy places to eat. So if you are excited and ready to dive into the amazing features of the area check out the Guest Book with many offerings. Or ask Kate for some tips on what to do. There is so much to do and see!!! A world away from the busy go go and yet right in the heart of the famous "Brew Ridge Trail", Rt 151 corridor. Relax and unwind! Ideally located in a secluded hollow with views. We are 7 minutes drive to Blue Mountain Brewery, and close to several wineries, breweries, cideries & distilleries. Located 20 minutes to Crozet, 30 minutes to Charlottesville, 25 minutes to Wintergreen Resort, 15 minutes to the entry of Shenandoah National Park or the Blue Ridge Parkway. If you enjoy biking, running or walking, Glass Hollow Road is a private, safe, quiet gem of a hollow to get out on. Our hollow is as beautiful as it gets with amazing views of the mountains and traces a winding mountain stream. All the neighbors are super friendly.
