With only the owners' farmhouse visible beyond the barn, guests enjoy exceptional peace, privacy and the perfect setting for a relaxing countryside escape. Wake to birdsong, enjoy breakfast overlooking the surrounding countryside, then step straight onto miles of ancient woodland and walking trails from your doorstep. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, an active break or simply somewhere to unwind, The Forest Malthouse is an ideal base for discovering the very best of Sussex and Kent. Just a short drive away you'll find the iconic Pooh Sticks Bridge and the enchanting landscapes that inspired A. A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh stories, the magnificent gardens at Sheffield Park, the heritage Bluebell Railway, world-renowned Glyndebourne Opera House and the celebrated Royal Ashdown Golf Club. Charming villages, historic houses and excellent country pubs – including our favourite, The Foresters Arms in Fairwarp – are all close by. The heart of the barn is the stunning open-plan oak-framed kitchen, dining and living space, with its impressive vaulted ceiling and double-height interior creating a wonderful place to relax after a day exploring. Upstairs, the spacious bedroom and contemporary shower room provide a peaceful retreat overlooking the adjoining hay barn. To help you settle in, we provide complimentary fresh milk from our local creamery, a selection of beers from a local brewery, along with granola, biscuits, tea, coffee, cooking essentials and other thoughtful touches. Every booking also includes our digital Welcome Pack, packed with local recommendations, favourite restaurants, walking routes and everything you need to make the most of your stay. We're always happy to answer questions or help with special requests before or during your visit. Adults travelling with infants are very welcome. Guest access Guests have full access to the entire private, detached, FOREST MALTHOUSE. Additionally, they will have access to one gated parking space right outside. Externally they will have access to a table and chairs in the grounds outside with views over the forest beyond. We do request that guests respect our privacy and do not enter our private garden. Other things to note We do have WiFi, and a TV set up with NETFLIX in th THE FOREST MALTHOUSE. Due to the rural location 3g and 4g mobile signal is poor most of the time, so don't expect too many long calls whilst you are relaxing and enjoying the peace and tranquility. You will have to use WhatszApp to communicate over Wi-Fi.
