Thump Cottage - Gateway to the Dales!

Our attractive one bed cottage has an outdoor sunken patio kitchen area with charcoal BBQ and a raised decking area. A cosy home from home, with a touch of luxury! Set at the bottom of our garden, but totally self contained with parking for one vehicle. Kirkby Malzeard is a small traditional village set in the Nidderdale AONB. Perfectly placed to be your 'Gateway to the Dales', whilst also conveniently located for visits to Harrogate and York, it's your town & country location rolled into one! The space A 'key safe' is located on the outside wall near the Kitchen stable door, for your 'self-entry' convenience Our cottage was completely refurbished 'as new' in September 2018. It has underfloor heating with limestone tiles adorning the Kitchen and Wet-room/Toilet floors and walls. The fully fitted Kitchen is complete with Dishwasher, Washer/tumble-dryer, Fridge-freezer, Ceramic Hob, Microwave, Warming Drawer and a 'hide and slide' Neff Oven', not forgetting the necessary Toaster and Kettle! Mood lighting has been installed around the cottage, including a designer pendant light in the Kitchen/Diner creating a cosy atmosphere for dining at the glass topped table. Carpeted stairs lead directly from the Kitchen to the 'loft-style' Bedroom, where we have installed a King Size Bed, a Dressing Table with ample drawers and a Wardrobe hanging space. All of our Bedding is of a high quality, and luxury Robes and Towels are provided during your stay. A Hairdryer and portable Electric Fan, with a wall-mounted TV are also there for your use. (Please note: there is no closing door or child safety-gate fitted to the top or bottom of the stairway which is why we can't accept your children.) The cosy carpeted Lounge has a Wood-Burning Stove, but the cottage also has Radiators fitted in every room and heated Towel Rails in both Wet-room and Toilet. Free WiFi is included for the duration of your stay. Please be aware that mobile reception can be intermittent depending on your network. The Lounge has a TV and Sound Bar with a selection of CD's and DVD's and a range of books and games to entertain you! Netflix, YouTube & Amazon prime are installed and there is a Firestick with each TV for the internet. If you like walking, you will love Thump Cottage. The narrow Back Lane is bordered by fields and footpaths, so you can start a country walk right from your your front door! In the lounge, you will also find a great range of walking books, local OS maps, and general reference books for you to enjoy during your stay. The Lounge Patio Door gives access to the outdoor sunken garden area with BBQ.. This area also houses a wood-fired Pizza Oven which can only be used in the summer months and when good weather conditions allow. This oven needs a certain amount of experience to manage. It take 2.5 hours to reach cooking temperature and can only be used under our direct supervision - which we are happy to provide when we are available. So prior arrangement for this is essential. A small fee will be levied for fresh pizza bases (dough balls) and extra wood provided. For enjoying those summer days there are high glass-topped tables and chairs outside. In addition, folding canvas chairs are stored in the Kitchen. We have installed fixed Chains and Locks for your Bike security and waterproof Bike Covers are also provided. The upper-decking, accessed by the garden steps, gives you great views over the fields at the rear. There is a table and chairs with a hanging heat-lamp to keep you warm and illuminated as dusk falls! The upper decking fencing is adorned with coloured festoon lighting on a time-switch. This area is great in the morning too for enjoying your breakfast in the sunshine! Finally, there is a Welcome Folder giving full details of all the cottage facilities and local amenities and also a Visitors Book for all your comments. Guest access Our guests will have access to our lovely cottage, hardstanding parking for one vehicle and our sunken patio and barbecue and the scenic upper decking. Other things to note We have a ginger tabby cat called Rita who is lovely but was feral and, as such, is frightened of most people, so you may not see her. Whereas, there is the famous Harry, a black cat who belongs to a close neighbour, who is maybe the friendliest cat ever! So, please just check the cottage before you depart, in case Harry has decided to take up some home comforts! Harry is his own cat and does not take our advice (!) so if you don't like cats or are allergic, do feel free to shoo him away - he won't be offended!
