The lake has been an inspiration to poets and writers for centuries and is without doubt the most romantic lake in Italy and one of the most romantic places on earth. “CASA AL LAGO” The “Casa al Lago” , a typical ancient building dating back to the XVIII Century is situated right in the historical center of Orta San Giulio; it overlooks Via Olina, the main street of this pretty town, and is surrounded by ancient and noble mansions, where visitors can enjoy the sight of beautiful ironworks, one of the most ancient crafts widely practised in this area. The main entrance to the house is on Vicolo Olina, a pedestrian lane leading directly to the lakeside. The building is just a few steps away from the picturesque Piazza Motta, nicknamed the “drawing room” with its bars and restaurants overlooking the wharf and featuring panoramic terraces from which the visitors can enjoy the breathtaking view of the magic Isle of San Giulio.
