At that time, colonists were settled in Ahlbeck to cultivate the land. The slightly irregular structure of the hand-plastered clay walls, the scent and grain of the oiled planks, the ancient timber beams and much more are reminiscent of this time. The house was lovingly and carefully renovated in 2011. On its approximately 2000 square meter, fenced property are still the approximately same age, also thatched barn and another outbuilding, in which today the small sauna of the house is located. The rear garden gate opens onto a quiet hiking trail, on which you can wonderfully cross the secluded Pomeranian landscape to Ludwigshof (lookout tower) and further to Rieth to the water. Ahlbeck is located on the Szczecin Lagoon in the eastern part of the Ueckermünder Heide. There are many small sandy beaches and quiet, natural swimming coves in the area. The longest and most beautiful sandy beach is located in the seaside resort of Ueckermünde am Haff with beach chairs, nudist area, a beach promenade with kiosks and the listed beach hall with restaurant. The Szczecin Lagoon, with an area almost twice as large as Lake Constance, offers ideal swimming conditions thanks to its low-salinity water and shallow shore areas. The water temperatures are often very pleasant as early as May. From Ahlbeck you can reach the coast wonderfully by bike via the well-developed network of bike paths or explore the surrounding forests. The nearest bike rental is in Ueckermünde. It also delivers the bikes to the house on request. The neighboring village of Ludwigshof offers 2 riding stables for horse and pony enthusiasts, both children and adults. Other attractions in the region are the zoo in Ueckermünde, the Slavic settlement Ukranenland in Torgelow, the seed drying oven in Jatznik, the inland dunes in Altwarp and the Brohmer Berge. The Ahlbeck village church from 1754 is one of the most beautiful Baroque half-timbered churches in northern Germany. The former Ahlbecker See, today's Ahlbecker Fenn, has been part of the 'Naturpark am Stettiner Haff' since 2005, which is characterized by its natural lagoon coast, poor sandy soils, low moor areas, pine forests and beech forests, screaming eagles, cranes and hoopoes.
