Description
A delightful 3 bedroom cottage, less than a 5 minute drive from the gorgeous Clam Harbour Provincial Beach and a short 1 minute walk through a neighbouring lawn to access the sand flats during low tide. If you want to get away, this is a quiet place, a good spot to leave busy life behind. Nestled on a quiet lane with a large yard, away from the hustle of city life. There is a firepit and seating with wood to have a campfire for a quiet night. The space Quiet and peaceful, it's not unusual to see deer or fox in the yard. Though the beach is a short drive away, when the tide is coming in you can often hear it when you are in the back yard. We have seating on the deck, a picnic table with an umbrella and a firepit with wood stored behind the shed. There is plenty of seating available during the warmer months, one bench outside once frosty. We advice bringing paper to start the fire just in case ours runs out. We have an umbrella clothes line, an outdoor shower, which is a wonderful experience as you hear the birds singing as you shower. You may wish to sit on the deck for your coffee in the morning, or play some games in the large yard! Outside, we have storage bins with games. We also have pool noodles and other beach toys ,chairs and a beach tent. During low tide, use the noodles to hold to float down the river to the right of the beach. To do this, you have to cross the mouth of the river during the low tide and you walk up the beach on that side and drop in when you are ready to float! The sand flats are down the lane. Our guidebook will show the way. Should you have questions about clam digging or wish for a guide to clam dig, we can set it up, weather and tide permitting! The walk into the flats is over the edge of our kind neighbours lawn. The entry is not a beach, the sands are what you are walking to. It starts out a bit mushy and your feet sink in the wet sand. This is shown in the photos. A small shoe or sandal may disappear, so carry them and go with bare feet, or wear tall boots. It's so worth it!. The manual in the house shows how you walk onto the flats to get to the sand quickly. The pools of water are delightfully warm even early and especially late in the season. The sand and the walk go on for a long distance. It's great to go out an hour prior to when the tide is lowest to do the walk or clam dig. You will wade if you wish to go out to the end of the flats behind the island. There is also more access from Clam Harbour road if you continue to walk down past our street. You will see the little areas to let you onto the flats. The cottage itself is delightful, small but spacious at the same time. The floors, as with homes like this, will take you uphill and downhill all in one room! The bedrooms are cozy with comfortable beds. Downstairs the primary room has one queen bed, the upper floor having a double and twin in one room, two twin beds in the other. There is a desk/workspace upstair Upstairs the rooms are charming with sloped drop ceilings and the ceiling itself is lower, as was common for cottages of it's style. Downstairs, is a great spot to sit with a group around the table for board games on a rainy day, or outside. We have many games for all ages, and toys for the kids. We also make sure that the desk upstairs and the drawers in the dining room have colour books for all ages and paper and such for creative folks! We have a fully stocked house. We have some coffee and tea. A coffee machine, a small keurig for those wanting to bring their favourite keurig flavours. We also have some spices, salt and pepper and sugar. Utensils and wine glasses, including dishes suitable for children. We also have a high chair and a pack'n play. There are no gates on the stairs for children. We have a VCR, movies, plus a Roku tv with access to Netflix and Prime along with many other shows and channels. We have books for all ages as well! At the beach, enjoy the Clam Harbour hiking trail to find more secluded beaches and stunning scenery! When it seems to be done, keep going for extra sites. For the full hike, we advise a backpack with water and leave early enough to get back before dark. The hike is good for high or low tides. Our internet is high speed with Bell Aliant. This has worked well for people needing to work from the cottage. It will take you 20 minutes to drive to the closest large grocery, along with a great pub, a little store that holds a bit of everything, and a hardware store. These are listed in our book in the house. The closest liquor store is now Porters Lake. Enjoy the whimsy of our unique cottage! Guest access We have a large graveled driveway and big yard which has full access for guests, including a firepit area. Keyless entry. Other things to note The ocean is gorgeous all year round to visit! A reminder that you are away from the city trappings, the main shopping is 20 minutes away. It is a chance to get away, relax and enjoy the quiet but for the sound of the ocean. Registration Details RYA 2023-24-04032053357365459-6
