Description

The sounds of nature and beautiful 360° views can be appreciated from your very own stone cottage This is the where the name Saggy Stone comes from for our brewery. A cabin in the mountains above our farm where you can enjoy a romantic getaway - sitting in the hot tub, watching the night sky. One of two exclusive units tucked away in the kloof, you feel miles away from the stress and worries of daily life. Best accessed with a 2x4, 4x4 or SUV (bakkie) The space Relax in our stunning, cozy and character-filled stone cottage in the midst of the Nuy Valley wilderness. This is the site where Saggy Stone Brewery's name originated from. Sit under the huge oak tree with a cup of coffee and relax with beautiful Kloof views that stretch for miles while listening to the sounds of busy birds flitting from tree to tree. Nestled deep in the Nuy Valley between Robertson and Worcester, only an hour and a half from Cape Town, lies this special Oaktree Cottage with the added luxury of a wood fired hot tub from which you can sit back and count the shooting stars on a clear night. The rustic splendour of a striking kloof backdrop completes your memorable retreat. During the course of 2018 we put game onto the farm, and the cottages are part of the game reserve (hence the reason for no pets allowed). The animals wander over the whole 800 hectares and tend to spend more time on the lower regions of the farm. Guests are welcome to do a game drive. It is one of two exclusive units in the mountains behind our farm - each, unique and offering privacy and memorable experiences. Best accessible with a high clearance vehicle (not necessary for a 4x4) - it is a 4km gravel road into the mountains. Please contact us prior to arrival to check on accessibility. There have been occasions where guests have driven a small sedan up - but that is dependent on how careful you wish to drive - the 4x4 or 2x4 saves your nerves! Please, no low-profile tyres. Guest access Best accessible with a high clearance vehicle (not necessary for a 4x4) - it is a 4km gravel road into the mountains. Please contact us prior to arrival to check on accessibility. The road to the cottage has suffered from the last 2 years of flood events so we recommend a minimum vehicle of a bakkie (SUV), 2x4 or 4x4 to drive the 4km access road from the farm to the cottage. It crosses some rocky patches and dry river beds. Within the boundaries of the game reserve is a 4x4 trail which takes you to the mountainous heights above the farm from where you can see Worcester and Robertson - spectacular sunset spot! Hopefully there will be some game grazing nearby within in the near future. We allow for late check out on Sunday's should there be no bookings for the Sunday night. Check out times will be confirmed closer to the time. Other things to note Best accessible with a high clearance vehicle (not necessary for a 4x4) - it is a 4km rocky road into the mountains. Please contact us prior to arrival to check on accessibility. There have been occasions where guests have driven a small sedan up but a minimum of 180mm ground clearance needed. It is dependent on how careful you wish to drive - the 4x4 or 2x4 saves your nerves! Please, no low-profile tyres.
