This unique straw-bale house is located on 10 acres close to historic Williams, Arizona and the Grand Canyon. It is beautifully hand crafted with 24" thick straw-bale walls, this home is very cozy, comfortable and peaceful. Our home was designed with an open-floor plan which makes it very spacious with lots of natural light. Enjoy the expansive night sky glittering with stars from the hand built rocking chairs on the porch. The Cozy Straw Bale Retreat house is very spacious and quiet. I built it using straw bales (yes actual straw bales!) covered with stucco. This keeps the house cool in summer, warm in winter, quiet, and very fire proof. The home is situated on 10 acres about 11 miles north of Williams, AZ-The gate way to the Grand Canyon. We are about 45 minutes from the Grand Canyon. We are in an excellent location for walking, hiking, and biking. There is a large "Arizona room" (a screened in porch) with a ping-pong table. Guests have access to the entire house with plenty of parking outside. I live in a studio on the back side of the property. So I am just a call or email away if you have any needs that I can accommodate. I respect my guest's privacy, but am almost always available if you need me and would love to give you any information about the area I can to make your trip the best that it can be! Most of the land parcels in this area are situated on 10 acre lots, so although there are "neighbors" and we live on the property, you will have privacy. The landscape is mostly juniper trees and a variety of pine. We are in the high desert, so the temperatures rarely climb above 90 in the summer, mainly resting in the high 70s-80s. We may get snow in the winter, but very rarely enough to keep you from getting to where you want to go. The Cozy Straw Bale House is 1/2 mile from the main highway heading to the Grand Canyon. We are about 11 miles from the small town of Williams, which has many restaurants, a post office, a bank, a large grocery store, coffee shop, brewery, etc. By car, it will take about 45 minutes to reach the Grand Canyon. It is about a 45 minute drive to the larger city of Flagstaff, which provides a variety of movie theaters, shops, restaurants, Northern Arizona Museum, breweries, coffee shops, a great ski resort, and more!
