Antigone’s Stone House, our grandmother’s first home is situated on the top of the village of Mirthios above Plakias Bay with nothing but the horizon and the sea in front. This house has been dedicatedly renovated to create the ideal hideaway for those seeking to slow down and feel the authentic energy of a Cretan village. It’s a truly quiet place to disconnect from the urban routine and chill out above the magical south coast. The space Traditionally the houses in such villages in Crete are small, cramped and overlooked. The unique location and the renovated island-style architecture come together in harmony in our eco-friendly stone house. It has been designed respecting the traditional settlement around it but with a modern approach. A restored stone house consisted of a small open plan space with a double bed and an elegant seating area. It is constructed in the traditional island way, using natural materials such as lime-washed plasters, local stone and dark wood. The bathroom is an independent grey volume built outside the original house. Furthermore, the outdoor space comprises a massive wood table under the blackened metal pergola.
