Cabin on Historic Dog Mushing Property
This cabin is situated on the property of historic Trail Breaker Kennel. Trail Breaker is the home of four time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher and her legendary sled dogs. The house is about 100 feet from a small lake. Outside your back door, a woodland trail leads to lovely walks alongside the Chena and Tanana rivers. About one mile from the post office and airport, and three miles from restaurants and shopping, this cabin is accessible while still being a secluded Alaskan get-away. This cabin was designed and built with aurora borealis (northern lights) viewing in mind. Guests can watch the northern lights dance from inside the cozy cabin, through large picture windows facing North. The cabin is located only a few miles from the airport, but has a secluded feel, facing a lake and only a short walk to the Chena River. The kitchen has plentiful cookware and food storage options, with a full-size refrigerator, stove, microwave oven and coffee-maker. Guests have complete access to this private cabin. And for our guests with limited mobility there is an access ramp that leads directly to the front door. This cabin is situated on the property of the historic Trail Breaker Kennel, founded by four-time Iditarod champion Susan Butcher and her husband, and Yukon Quest champion, David Monson. The kennel is still home to 50 actively racing Alaskan Huskies, many whom are veterans of the Iditarod. This cabin looks out over a small lake. Outside your back door, a woodland trail leads to lovely walks alongside the Chena and Tanana rivers. Situated about one mile from the post office and airport, and three miles from restaurants and tourist sites, this cabin is accessible while still being a secluded get-away in the interior of Alaska. Unfortunately, those under 18 will not be able to stay at our cabin due to insurance liabilities.
