Welcome to Tea Cosy Cottage...a beautiful Grade II Listed 17th century thatched cottage, steeped in history with many original features whilst also providing modern luxury to make your stay perfect in every way. We have lots of open space for you to enjoy, and our wonderful housekeepers will ensure that additional deep cleaning and protection remains their top priority for your safe and relaxing stay. The space With original walls half a metre thick, window seats, exposed beams, old oak doors and floors and a beautiful inglenook fireplace, Tea Cosy Cottage is delightful. A fabulous log burning stove in the sitting room creates a perfect cosy, warm and welcoming ambience. The original staircase adds to the delightful character of Tea Cosy, a beautiful cottage designed around original features. Previously owned by an English Lord and Lady, the cottage was featured in The Daily Mail and in pastimes was the village post office and bakery (the original baker’s oven is still there to see). Enter through the front stable door directly into the fully equipped kitchen, a light and airy room with windows and stable doors to the front and rear. Furnishings include a range of fitted wood cupboards, an antique oak table and four chairs and monk's bench. Just outside the kitchen door is an outer room, complete with washer/dryer and freezer. The sitting room is wonderfully cosy with a large Cotswold stone inglenook fireplace featuring a salt drying box and wooden seat on one side and a wood burning stove with plenty of logs. Two very comfortable two seater Laura Ashley sofas are provided and the window seat carved in Elm especially for the cottage by a local craftsman provides a special touch, the perfect place to sit with a coffee or a book and to watch the horses stroll by. A flat screen Smart TV with Sky and DVD player provide additional entertainment and the cottage offers excellent superfast Wi-Fi. A few winding stairs lead to the landing upstairs. The stairs are an original feature thus adding even more character that Tea Cosy has to offer. BEDROOM ONE - Part of the charm of this cottage is its original features including this bedroom's original doorway and oak beams. The old painted brick chimney breast faces you as you enter this light room with windows on two sides. The room is furnished with a double bed (4'6" wide), rugs on the wooden floors, an antique rocking chair, and a chest of drawers and wardrobe. The bed features a luxurious Millbrook mattress with 5,000 individually hand-nested pocket springs for superior comfort, support and a wonderful night’s sleep. BEDROOM TWO - This small but delightful room has two solid wood single beds cleverly made by a local craftsman. With a walk-in cupboard that provides a shelf and hanging space for clothes, it is ideal for children. There are wooden oak floors throughout upstairs in the cottage. BATHROOM - White bathroom suite and wooden floor. The bath is fitted with a shower screen with electric shower over the bath. The room also contains a basin with overhead light with shaver point and WC. COTTAGE GARDEN - The delightfully private, enclosed rear garden is very pretty and laid to grass with herbaceous borders, the perfect setting to dine al fresco or to simply sit and chat with a glass of wine in the evening as the sun sets. When you walk under a wooden archway where the garden narrows it then opens out into another secluded area. We also have our Victorian walled garden, 1/3 acre for our guests to enjoy, perfect for a picnic, playing games or simply a relaxing stroll. There is public parking in front of Tea Cosy Cottage. Other things to note Please enjoy the warmth and cosiness of our log burner during the cooler months with a basket of logs provided. Please note 5 nights minimum stay is requested for bookings between 14th July and 31st August with arrival preferably on a Saturday (however please always contact us to enquire on your preferred dates to check any flexibility on this before booking). We also request a 5 night minimum stay for Xmas and New Year weeks (18th Dec - 2nd Jan), and a 4 night minimum stay for Easter (1st April - 6th April), however please contact us to discuss any flexibility on this before booking. **PLEASE NOTE** for Xmas and New Year bookings please contact us prior to booking as we have specific changeover days due to our housekeeper’s schedule
