Chalet in Volksberg
Description
Welcome to Louise & Antony's home. This charming atypical 110 m2 chalet in the middle of the forest in the Northern Vosges Regional Natural Park and close to Petite Pierre, is an ideal place for lovers of nature, walks and calm. If you want to disconnect, this is the place for you. No phone network and no Wi-Fi, a rare place! The sound of the water, the animals in their environment, breakfast under the weeping beech... Bring your bikes! ;-) The space Please read this description IN FULL before making your decision! We make it a point of honor that you have all the most accurate information possible to be completely autonomous on site and avoid misunderstandings. Thank you. ;-) Here we invite you to return to simplicity in our family cabin! Accessible by car, horseback or bike and on a plot of 1500 m2 , it is located about 300 meters above sea level and consists as follows. On the ground floor: - a kitchen equipped with a fridge and small gas freezer - gas hobs with a small oven and everything you need to cook (spare gas bottles on site) - a living room with fireplace (heating of the entire chalet with wood) and dining area, relaxation in front of the fire + extra oil stove - a large bathroom with bath and a small extra oil heater NB: we provide bath towels. - a separate toilet (septic tank) On the first floor: - a large open room of about 50 m2 (what we call bedroom 1) with a queen size double bed (200cm by 160) and two single wooden beds of 190cm by 90, two double sofas, a rocking chair, a coffee table - a mezzanine with a double bed of 200cm x 140 (what we call bedroom 2). SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS ARE FOR UP TO 6 PEOPLE: 2 COUPLES FOR 2 DOUBLE BEDS; 2 PEOPLE FOR TWO SINGLE BEDS. Note: We provide bed linens, ready to use in bags on each bed. This rental can be compared to that of a mobile home in a campsite, for example. So also remember to bring a few rolls of toilet paper, dish soap, a sponge, wipes everything, that kind of thing...;-) IMPORTANT before making your decision! This is a cottage in the middle of the forest and therefore you will probably come across the local wildlife: deer, deer, ticks, dorms, little mice, etc... in particularly summer. You can see them there and sometimes hear them, especially at night. Dormors (like small squirrels and totally harmless) may come into the cottage, attracted by food. Traps are available on-site to capture them as needed and free them far into the forest. It's part of the "charm" of the place! Don't be afraid of it...;-) Use of the mezzanine is at your own risk and young children should not have access to it. In the garden, a large stone barbecue, small stone table with 4 seats and a 6/8 seater picnic table, made of solid oak wood. You will find small wood all over the grounds and around to light the barbecue but remember to bring your charcoal! Please note, fire in the barbecue is "tolerated" in the forest and only for a barbecue, no large comfort fire is allowed for obvious safety reasons. Firewood for the fireplace is available all around the cottage. Please do not use it for the barbecue.;-) The cottage is powered by a system of solar panels and batteries that are used mainly for lighting it or to charge small appliances such as a mobile phone or a BlueTooth BOSE speaker that you will find on site to stream your music, for example. Be careful, you can't use large powerful appliances like a vacuum cleaner or a hair dryer for example... IMPORTANT! In case of capricious sunshine or during the months not very sunny, it may be that the power available in the batteries is very limited or even totally insufficient, which will be the case in winter in particular. So it will be necessary to turn on only one light at a time for a short time or just use the candles and electric lamps!;-) The electric lamps on site are very efficient. If you have personal headlamps, don't hesitate. Be careful, in winter, snow may make access to the road complicated and therefore imperatively requires chains for your vehicle! The running water is of excellent quality. Hot water comes from an instant gas water heater. Thank you for using the water in moderation! There are a few other small cottages in the area but they are very often unoccupied. If you happen to meet our only neighbor, he is very kind!;-) For your information, usually from October to late February, hunts may be occasionally organized in the area. No worries.;-) We live more than an hour from the chalet, so you will be totally self-sufficient for the duration of your stay! We advise you to consider bringing mosquito spray in the summer as well as warm clothes for the mornings and evenings that can be cool depending on the case, especially in the winter. And most importantly, don't forget your slippers, essential for the comfort of traveling in the cottage!;-) Boots or good shoes in case of rain will be a plus too... Check-in and checkout may vary depending on the day of the week, the times too, we will agree together, thank you. IMPORTANT and for your information, the cleaning fee does not exempt you from doing a "classic" cleaning at the end of your stay! ;-) These fees take into account the various operating costs of the premises: gas, water, oil, candles, batteries, supplies, gasoline for generator, etc... Thank you for your understanding. It is a question of leaving the premises as you arrived and not a so-called deep cleaning, exactly as after a mobile home rental in a campsite for example: broom and mop on the ground floor in particular, fridge and gas hobs, dishes washed and tidied... you will find everything you need on site. We don't force anyone if you disagree with this operation, so feel free to discuss it beforehand if you'd like. :-) You will receive later and by email the manual of the chalet which explains precisely all the important points in order to allow you to take control of the premises independently. You'll also receive other handy documents. You will have to read everything carefully and FULLY and make sure we read all these documents, thank you! Don't forget to check out our guidebook and make it a PDF version available on your phone for example, where you'll find plenty of information to prepare for your stay. Breathe in the fresh air and make you wake up to the chirping of birds! See you soon. Antony & Louise Guest access We will have personal belongings in the cottage but the whole place will be made for you. You will have access to everything! Other things to note We no longer accept dogs unfortunately! Please note, this is a chalet surrounded by nature and animals have their rights. You can see and hear them there, including at night... As a precaution, don't leave food lying around outside as dormice may feel invited, but no worries, they are totally harmless. ;-) Thank you.
